I'm headed to campus this weekend for Johnnie Homecoming against Augsburg.

Who are the guys to watch from Auggie? Anyone the Johnnies need to contain on offense?

Against STO Sheehan threw for over 400 yards and 6 touchdowns.  Against CSS, 300 yards and 5 touchdowns.  There are two WRs, Tretter and Smith, who catch 75% of the balls.  Air Auggie, it looks.  Another challenge for our secondary.

Should be made a bit easier by the fact that SJU will likely be up 30+ by half time.

I don't want to say it. I don't want to say it. But, I think I have to. Shoot. I have to. Just know that I don't want to say it.

Trap game?

Ok, maybe not a bona fide trap game, but a game where Auggie could expose some weaknesses in the SJU secondary?
Perhaps the Johnnies don't cover AO's spread (+40.5)

From the outside, the talent and (dare I say it) coaching of this St John's team is a whole different level from those 2011-ish St John's teams. Which is not to say that sharing that film couldn't be a good move - can't get complacent even when you are at the top*.

I wasn't there, but I was on the phone with some buddies who were at the game as it ended.

"I can't believe it! I can't believe they $%&@*!in' lost! Who is running the $%&@*! clock?!"

Yeah, Gary should have the final minutes of that game film playing over a loudspeaker in the background of practice all week.

I was in attendance.  Yeah the guy running the clock could have saved us.  I was directing a few choice words his way.  But, it never should have come down to that.

And yes, jamtod, that 2011 team was way below average.  As evidenced by the beatdown the Tommies put on us,

Now that's a game I'd love to go back and watch the film of.
Seems a lot more satisfying than our game from Saturday that I started rewatching on USD's website...

7/11 of the TDs went to the 6'3" Smith. Sheehan appears mobile and may need to get out of the pocket at 5'9" to avoid batted balls from the Johnnie d (as seen against Concordia).

On the defensive side Augsburg has some tall corners which might make for a more even matchup in the 1:1 jump balls than we've seen in previous weeks.

A lot of youth for Augsburg on both side of the ball who I'm sure would enjoy upending SJU on homecoming. Hopefully the boys come ready to play and we get to see a lengthy participation list by 00:00.

That was a challenging year.  6-4. We lost to the Auggies, Tommies (double stomped), Bethel (stomped) and UWEC (stomped).  The next was worse.  At 5-5, it turned our years-winning streak into years-not-losing-record streak.   That year, 2012, we lost to the Tommies (stomped), Cobbers, Olies, Auggies (stomped) and Bethel.

It was a sorrowful time for SJU football in a few ways.  But rebirth and renewal came quickly.  The sun always rises.

I almost puked on that one. I'm muttering to my wife, "why don't the coaches tell these guys to take a pass interference if their guy gets past them TAKE THE PENALTY, FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING THAT'S HOLY TAKE THE PENALTY!!!"  but instead they not only get beat once but they get beat twice.  :'(
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Correct me if I am wrong but With there being two Divisions its the Winner of the North vs the Winner of the Skyline right. So if both St John and Carelton play as unbeaten the then the winner of that game will play the winner of the Skyline.

You're, I think, but SJU and CAR are both in Northwoods so they won't be playing each other in the championship game.  They'll sort each other out the week before the championship, the last week of the season.

That's what he meant, if both SJU and Carlton are unbeaten for the final season game, then the winner will win the North and  play the winner of the Skyline division in the championship game.

Yes, I was there! It was a thrill to storm the field after the win, all 45 of us.

I have not watched a game yet other than the end of the CSS game but Sheehan is mobile, he does remind me of Ayrton Scott. Scott was also not that tall, about the same height, and he ran out of the pocket so he could see receivers downfield. Sometimes he just continued the play by running.....
