Anyone know how the Carleton video broadcast is?
Not great, was pretty choppy and got some odd image issues when I was watching the Concordia game.  It will at least be functional.

In the pre-streaming days, that old Carleton radio guy was a crack-up. Loved to beat up on JG. Kept expecting him to play Glenn Miller music during the break.

SJU Game Notes for Week 10 at Carleton are up:

https://s3.amazonaws.com/sidearm.sites/gojohnnies.com/documents/2021/11/3/110621_Carleton_GameNotes.pdf

Carleton has some odd stats. Started strong but divisional play got them. 3rd best defense mixed with a mid-conference scoring offense while gaining bottom of the conference yardage. Secure the ball pretty well with a nice TO margin (+15). QB seems mobile and might need to be to get a bit more time and space to find guys.

Hopefully another fast start for the Johnnies so the 2ups can get some minutes in to make an impression prior to championship week / playoffs.

Love it. Thanks for pulling that together. Next time though, just share it with me directly so we don't give this kinda insider info to the board for pick-em's  8-)

It's a far cry from week two when the Bethel guys were all bunched together at the top of the standings. You wouldn't have to ask if you would have just listened to your BU brethren at the top of the stack. ;)

WEEK 9 STANDINGS

I'm starting to sweat - I think there's a high likelihood I fall on my face in the last two legs of the race...

I still enjoy that clip of Streit shaking off Pirate defender in the endzone like he was swatting a fly. (About 1:10 into the vid.)

If I recall, the Whit coach came across a bit cocky before that matchup.

I guess the NCAA wanted to give a topic for banter for the posters on this board and some ad revenue for D3football.com. I'll go first. My guess is that the real rankings look something like:

UW-Whitewater
SJU
Linfield
UW-La Crosse
UW-Oshkosh
Bethel
Redlands
Whitworth

Probably going to be some movement this weekend with La Crosse and Whitewater playing one another. That's my Captain Obvious take for the week.

Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Yes, that was a particularly spicy playoffs on these boards. Fond memories.

My achilles heal is that every year I completely forget to make picks at least one week. But hey, I'm nothing if not consistent!!  8-)

Whitewater will be ranked ahead of the Johnnies next week, of course, but the comparison between the teams is interesting.

Record v d3:
- SJU 8-0
- UWW 8-0

Record v RR opponents:
- SJU 2-0
- UWW 2-0

Strength of schedule:
- SJU 0.611
- UWW 0.604

I imagine that BU will drop from the regional rankings if SJU win the championship game while UWW will have three RR opponents in the final week.  The only real hope this year of SJU getting a better seed that UWW is if UWW lose to UWL or maybe if UWO is knocked from the rankings with an unexpected loss.  Although, I think it's reasonable to argue that BU gets a two-loss (both losses to the same team) ranking before three WIAC teams get RR, two of which will have two losses (one of UWL's being non-D3, yes) so SJU could still finish with two RR wins, equal to UWW, and make the committee discussion last a little longer than 15 seconds.

Also, the MIAC really stuck it to second place with this division structure.  Even more than we imagined at the time.

If UW-W beats UW-L, then the Johnnies and Warhawks will be very equal according to the criteria. But their respective rankings would only likely be relevant if they were both Pool C candidates, which they will not be if UW-W beats UW-L.
