Are the Johnnies as good as their 3 ranking?

Tough to say.  There's a definite possibility.  It's tough not to respect a team in preseason polls that was a national quarterfinalist last year, national semifinalists in 2003, 2002, 2001, and 2000, and national champs in 2003.  Plus, they return an experienced QB.  It's a preseason poll, so there is not a whole lot to base it on.

Why are the Cobbs not in the top ten?

They lost a 2-time MIAC MVP QB.  He'll be tough to replace and they might have a few rocky games before he (the replacement) gets settled in.

As far as how the conference shakes out, I see SJU and CC at the top.  Depends how each team reloads, but I am partial to SJU.  After that, it does't really matter.  Bethel could be alright with their lord, Phil Porta, running the ball, but I don't see them challenging for a title.  I'll be most interested to see how Carleton fares with former Johnnie Kurt Ramler at the helm.

Khans, in my opinion is nasty....their appetizers are freakin' gross (chicken wing and soup)....I'll admit, it is a nice place to go if you are still in college because it is all you can eat, usually.  Anyways, my 2 cents!  You guys should go to the Cheesecake Factory over in Edina, that is a great place!
Mighty Royal

You can always tell the Khan's virgins. They sit down, the waiter takes their drink orders, then they go to the trough and come back with their plate and find their appetizer plate sitting there.

Mongo's Grill is OK, but Khan's still rules.

although the cobbs have lost a 2-time MVP they have arguably their best athlete on the team at the helm this year, along with a HUGE o-line and cory johnson. as for the johhnnies, they should be tough with an experienced kofoed, can't wait for the showdown in the valley on the 23rd of sept.

Wow!  Cornhole for a user-name.  I guess that kind of stuff in funny in Minnesota. I'm impressed!!

Johnnie Red

piperinsider, that would be much appreciated. Keep me posted on his response to the invite.

Ran into Terri Traen of KQRS at the county fair last night. She still does not know if she can make it to Collegeville on September 9. She has a wedding that day and might have to do yet another promo for KQ. She is interested in making it to a Johnnie game sometime this season.

Also talked to Coleen Rowley last night. She is running for U.S. Congress against John Kline. She seemed very interested in attending the Political Stiftungsfestivities on September 30 when we will be honoring Eugene McCarthy and Paul Wellstone.

Raiderguy, you owe me big time for reminding you that today is your bride's birthday. ;)

I have to agree with Duffman on SJU being in the top 5 preseason poll.  They have experience and even though they lose 5 or more starters, the backups can be just as good.  For the cobbs being out of the top 10 is no surprise to me since the loss of schuey at QB, but Rodel will be good.  Plus we have everyone returning in the backfield for a great running game.  I hope we have more of a passing game this year so we aren't so 1-D.
