Fun fact: neither team has trailed in a game since they last played each other where BU took a 6-0 lead.

Concerns from last week's game include watching a normally stout SJU run defense get carved up, especially through the middle, for over 100. An olineman appeared to hobble off with an ankle injury, and Backes made an ill-advised throw for the INT.

Good news is that, barring injury setback, Mohr should be back giving the offense a full compliment of weapons including a big TE corp.

BU appears to have switched kickers mid season (possibly due to a few missed extra points?).

SJU has done a nice job winning the field position battle this season. Hopefully the hit to the chin by Carleton was a wake up call. Please no more freaking unsportsmanlikes and illegal formations.

BU's original kicker (Jack Hanson) also played on the soccer team and had conflicts with both the soccer and football teams playing on Saturdays. I believe he decided to drop football and focus on soccer, but I'm not 100% sure. But don't believe it was because he missed a couple of extra points. The game at St. John's was his first missed kick as he had 13 PATs and a 46 yard fg without a miss prior to that.

Makes sense. Just saw the couple of misses prior to no more games and assumed either new competition or maybe injury. A bummer as it looked like he had a decent leg and now they're working with a kickoff guy and a fg guy. Looks like he's getting some good minutes in soccer though.

I hope they are successful renting additional seating.

From the story "An area in the West Parking lot will be reserved for SJU tailgaters."
I wonder what that means?  In the past we tailgated in the grassy area just to the east of the stadium.  Always worked well and allowed us to be discrete with our favorite adult beverages.

Can't complain about the current kicker - don't think he's missed a kick yet. Hope I didn't jinx him.

Pretty sure it's safe to say Bethel starts it's playoff season this weekend, a loss and done. Don't see a 2 loss team getting a pool C bid based on prior year selections.

With the new track installed, that area is no longer available for tailgating.

The West Lot is huge.  Plenty of room for happy Stiftungfestivities.   I wish I could be there... rain, cold and all.

It's gonna be a hard game.  Let's say GAC hard x5 without the cheap shots.  It's been a few years since we could +legitimately+ call the Royals dirty.  I expect both us and them will be very physical.  The refs better be ready to let hard play go.

EDIT: fixed

One difference from early in the season has been the emergence of Bethel's young WR's. Kidder (#2) play was expected and had a game against SJU, but Micah Niewald (#15) and Greg Ante (#6) have both really emerged as the season progressed. 3 (Covid??) freshman who are playing very well right now.

Bethel has also shuffled their Oline some, moving tackles to guard, and vice versa. We are still pretty young up front, but again that youth isn't as young as it was week 3. Same can obviously be said for SJU's new starters at this point in the year.

That said, if I was SJU, I'd run it till Bethel shows we can stop it. I think SJU has two very good backs and a very good Oline. And I think the strength of BU's D is its secondary and coverage.

Another wrinkle is AJ Parnell more settled in as a first year OC and play caller.

These are both playoff worthy teams. Here's to hoping the MIAC Championship Game doesn't keep us from sending two teams to the dance.

Stiftungfestivities. Now that's a word I have not heard used on this board in some time. I remember the big sign at tailgates when I was a student through when I moved out of the midwest around 2009. Speaking of--I haven't seen or heard from JohnnieRed in ages. Is he just lurking these days?

Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody

Last I'd heard he had some health struggles. Hope he's well and hanging in there.

I participate in the West Region Fan Poll.  I have UW River Falls ranked 8th.  I find it really hard to find any other teams to rank 9 and 10.  UWRF would pound any of the other teams in the region.
