Stiftungfestivities. Now that's a word I have not heard used on this board in some time. I remember the big sign at tailgates when I was a student through when I moved out of the midwest around 2009.

Ah, the good old days of shotgunning beers outside Finsleft's Pace Arrow in Science Lot.  ;D
.... and JohnnieRed burgers from ....... New Ulm??  :)

Or were they from Norwood Young America?
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Science Lot 1, may it rest in peace.

That's it.

This talk of Stiftungsfestivities and Science Lot 1 made me miss those tailgates from the early 2000s. I thought it was especially cool as a student because on Saturdays you could hear the buzz from my room in Mary Hall. While the new location is very nice--and I think much bigger than anything we had in Science Lot 1--it takes the buzz away from upper campus.

Was just on campus to enjoy lunch with my wife and swung up to the backside of the field to see that as of today, there were no additional bleachers on the visitor side. But, if they are being rented, they probably wouldn't show up until Thursday or Friday, I'm guessing.

I also liked that you could see the field.  I like scouting warmups.

On our walk this morning, my dog took a dump in the yard of a house that flies a Bethel flag on game days, so I would think that is a good sign for us Johnnies.  ;D

Exactly! That tailgate spot was so connected with the whole experience. You could hear the Johnnies doing the Mary Katherine Gallagher "Superstar," single jumping jack, and Bruce Lee exhale warm-ups.

Johnnies are going to $hit themselves once they get onto the Royal's turf on Saturday, lock it in.

Waiting for the edit!

I am going to drop a few complaints with this weekend.  The first is that I expected all MIAC teams to play 10 game with the champions playing 1 extra game.  I didn't realize it was a 9 game season with the 'championship/consolation' weekend.  I almost now wish they had done this as a MIAC showcase at a single site with the championship game being the prime time game.  I know nobody likes playing in an empty stadium, but I think it would mean something to the alumni and players.  Also I really don't like the rematches outside of the championship game.  There is no St. Olaf/Concordia game this year.  I think this weekend would be a great weekend to play some rivalry games that were skipped this year to make the games a little more interesting.

You can only do this if you have a 12-team conference.

Have to agree - there is no reason with current format to have 2 play 2, 3 play 3, etc. The only game that matters is 1 versus 1 for the AQ. Since there are 10 teams in the MIAC, I would like to see every team play each other, which would be 9 games and to make 10 games there could be 1 non conference game. That makes more sense to me rather than having to have 2 non conference games. Eliminate the divisions and just go back to the old way and best record (with tie breakers if needed) wins the AQ.
