I can't figure out Barstool Sports.  I just don't get it.  I know it's wildly popular but I can't understand what is or why.  Every time I check out it seems like it's just some random morons yelling at each other.  I make plenty of that content on my own.

I think it's supposed to be kind of an "everyman's" kind of sports outlet. It's not polished opinion in 3-5 minute segments from the talking heads at ESPN. It's rough around the edges, guy at the end of the bar yelling at the TV that Nick Saban should be fired because Alabama didn't beat Auburn by 38 points.

It's a pretty big company so it's not hard to find something you might like, but it's even easier to find things you don't care about from them if you're just surfing social media randomly.  The travel videos from the Wonton Don are always interesting.

They also recently did a documentary on Deion Sanders and his first season at Jackson State.

Very cool article on former Bethel RB Jesse Phenow and work he's doing with Karen Refugees.

I had to look because it's always good to read about MIAC boys doin' good and also because I wondered what a Karen refugee was.  My mind ran wild with the possibilities.

Quite a story.  Inspiring yet saddening.

Jesse's dad, Rich, is a classmate of mine at St. John's and a floormate freshman year.  He was a linebacker.  Rich is the most up, positive person I've ever met.  Overflowing with energy.

Sorry fellow MIAC fans but our league isn't looking very good after the last two weeks. At best SJU finishes ranked 8-10 and Bethel somewhere in the teens to 20. We will not get two teams into the playoffs next year and maybe for a while after that.

Because our top 2 teams went into the playoffs injured? Was there another team that went into the playoffs with more backups starting than SJU? Getting 2 teams into the playoffs wasn't a guarantee this year and given the few amount of at large bids the WIAC is about the only conference that can stake a claim for 2 teams in routinely.

Ice Bear could be off here...he ****ing usually is, but he feels both SJU and Bethel are top 10 teams and certainly no lower than 15. Ice is just saying if the brackets were shaped different both teams could easily have two wins in the tourney this season. Ice Bear says just his two cents. He keyed in on Bethel and SJU during these playoffs (as Ice worked to expand his ****ing D3 pallet beyond just eating seals by pounding on ice and **** in his own corner of the country) and found a real liking of these top MIAC programs.

Ice Bear says just an outsiders perspective here. Ice's ass will be sure to follow and watch more MIAC games next season which may also sharpen his perspective. Both these teams battled a ton of adversity this season. Ice is proud of them.

#8 isn't that hard of a fall from #5 (if that's where they end up). If the Johnnies ended up at #8, that would mean the voters are saying that they are the best team not to make it out of the second round and that they're better than at least one quarterfinal team.

The question is: who would you move ahead of SJU based on playoff performance? I think Linfield is an easy answer. Wheaton lost to Central in the second round as well, so maybe move Central ahead of SJU. Is Muhlenberg capable of moving past the Johnnies all the way from #15 at the end of the regular season? Possibly, but I don't know how likely.

Personally, I think #8 is the absolute floor for SJU come final poll time--and that's assuming the voters move the Mules past Wheaton and SJU.

So, here's how I predict it will shake out in the 5-9 spots:

#5 Linfield
#6 Central
#7 SJU
#8 Wheaton
#9 Muhlenberg

For Bethel, regular season rankings and playoff outcomes:

#9 Delaware Valley - beat unranked Anna Maria and lost to #15 Muhlenberg
#10 Hardin-Simmons - no playoffs
#11 UW-La Crosse - beat unranked Albion and lost to #1 NCC
#12 Salisbury - lost to #17 Johns Hopkins
#13 Cortland - beat unranked Springfield and lost to #18 RPI
#14 Bethel - lost to #8 Central
#15 Muhlenberg - beat unranked Framingham St, beat #9 Delaware Valley, and lost to #4 Mount Union
#16 Trinity - lost to #2 UMHB
#17 Johns Hopkins - beat #12 Salisbury and lost to #4 Mount Union
#18 RPI - beat unranked Endicott, beat #13 Cortland, and lost to #1 NCC
#19 Birmingham Southern - beat unranked Huntingdon and lost to #2 UMHB
#20 Ithaca - no playoffs

Despite the first round exit I don't see them falling more than a couple of places. Obviously, not the top 5 / top 10 end of the year we might've dreamt. Curious where HSU lands.

I've waited until the podcast dropped and I could listen to it before commenting on the shafting that North Central got from the NCAA in not being able to host the Semi-final game this coming weekend. I was incredulous when I heard the news. And now hearing that it has the appearance of "smoke and mirrors" and nobody on the committee really caring about the precedent they are setting. I suspect there will be some kind of investigation, but I hope it just isn't cursory and everything just continues as it is headed - which seems to be favoritism via greasing the skids. Grrr.
