Nice work, Art. 20000 ft launches in New Mexico?  That's quite a goal. Good luck to you and the rocketeers.

Did anyone else see a second ref on the grassy knoll behind the old scoreboard last Saturday?  Not sure what impact this had on the fair catch ruling.

It had zero impact on the game, that's not the point. The refs should know the rule and apply the rule the way it is written and not interpret it. So one ref interprets it differently than another one, then who is right and who is wrong? It shouldn't be up for debate.

I'm withholding judgement until the Zapruder film is released.

Refs are human, and this was a D3 game, so it wasn't an NFL or even D1 crew.  Mistakes happen in every game.  It's fine to want to know the correct ruling, but we got the explanation now, so what more is to be gained?

Nothing more to be gained. All I did was bring up that the refs gave an incorrect reason for why there wasn't a delay of game penalty. The WW coach sure thought there should have been a penalty and the reason the refs gave was incorrect. Hopefully they will learn from their mistake. Ok, this is the last comment I'm going to make on the subject.

Can we start a debate on the referee picking up his own flag on a roughing the quarterback call?
That was pure horse hockey!!!

Well the defender didn't mean it-so I guess that counts now. Oh and under 4 minutes to play.

Tough game for Bethel. I'm curious where they might land in the poll.

Might be one of the better opening weeks of competition. We'll see how that shakes out in the polls near term and potential playoff seeds later.

It looked like they attempted to re-tape Trost after the ankle roll. Ended up in a boot, although that could've been more preventative given the lackluster run game. VanErp might've picked up a muscle strain that took him off one of the last punt returns. Wasn't sure of the OL that got dinged. Also no Mohr which gave Washington #14 some looks.

Things to work on, bumps and bruises to nurse, but not a bad non-conference outcome.

Also, in the third Q, a RF punt returner called a fair catch, made a sprinting catch, and took more than two steps after catching the ball.  WHY WAS NO PENALTY CALLED?!?!  That is not allowed by the rules.

RF blitzed HARD.  SJU needs to improve on picking up/taking advantage of blitzes.

A win is a win, but there is much to work on.

Yes, we'll be blitzed like mad this year.  And must open a little run or an off day from Syverson and we're sunk.  Fedderman showed some running skillz, which was nice to see.  I was worried that Trost would be bashed to pieces (which has already happened) and with Vouk out then we would be struggling even worse.  But Fedderman did very well.

It's good to see both Buck and Larson taking a lot of grabs.  When Mohr is back then we'll be very unpredictable passing.  But need to run more.

Defense was very good.  RF's constant up-tempo play had them struggling at times but they did well.  Blaha came ready to play and turned out a heck of a game.  I think the rest of the WIAC had better beware because if RF keep playing like this then they will be very challenging.

Refs in the Cy-Hawk game did everything in their power to give the Hawks a chance to win in the last 30 seconds. They picked up a flag on an obvious PI call on the Cyclones last possession.

I think St.John's got enough flags that helped them for the day. A great game but I certainly wouldn't bring up picking up the flag. Uwrf didn't benefit from flags or calls. I would of loved to seen the catch on the sideline on close replay. Looked ob, who knows? It was a big play.
