In the annual "MIACPP First/Last Furnace Turn-On" competition, let me be the Kramer here as in the infamous "Master of My Domain" episode and say I'm Out!

That beautiful machine in my lower level is energized and fresh filter installed.

I'll leave it up to the rest of you to battle this out. However, Duffman is the undisputed king of this annual hold out to hit the on switch, and you better be ready to break out the woolies if you think you are going to outlast him.  8-)

I turned on my gas fireplace for about 10 minutes this morning. Does that put me out?

I've turned on the car heater and seat warmers but not the home furnace. Slept with window open last night and woke up with my dog curled up next to me. (He got a bit of a buzz cut last week and doesn't like the chill).

It was 90 and humid 3 days ago, fellas.  ;D  I'm probably not done going in the lake yet--got another week before the boat gets winterized.

Technology was my savior.
My wife asked to turn the heat on because it got down into the mid 40s last night. She ended up going over to the thermostat and setting the heat to kick on if it got below 70 in the house. I said nothing and changed it from my iPhone so it wouldn't kick on until it got down to 67 and saved the day. The temp in the house never got below 68/69.
She eventually put on a sweater and it was fine.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

After several days in Austin for work and experiencing late September weather of 98 and humid, I am loving the brisk air. Still Lord of the Land in my home!!

Won't hit 70 today in D.C., which means one thing -- time for all the trendsetters to break out those $1,200 Canada Goose down parkas.

We expect 42 at 7AM tomorrow and low 60s at game time.

Middle of spring for Oz  :)

The AFL Grand Final is on.  Sydney V Geelong.

Pre-game show was Robbie Williams.  20 minute concert.  Spectacular.
The game until halftime.  One of the greatest snooze fests in finals history.  Geelong is belting Sydney in a slow, boring, uninspired contest.
Halftime show.  An ear and eye sore that would have put Hellen Keller off.
Second half just started with a Geelong goal.

I'll be going to bed early tonight for the big game tomorrow.  At least we'll always have the pregame concert.

EDIT:

After the worst lockdown madness on the planet (maybe China has us beat now), Melbourne was eager to get out in force.  A shame the game sucked harder than an industrial vacuum.
