Cheating?  If we're allowing gas fireplaces (which I have not turned on yet), then the mattress pad is fair game, as well.

Depending on who is winning, the rules re-write themselves to "unless you're lying naked in a snow bank then you lose."

Ice says see...this would never hold water back east. We think we're the cat's meow when it comes to winter but in reality, thanks to this deep insight into the competitive world of Minnesota Furnace time tables, Ice sees this truth, that we aren't **** over here near the Atlantic...

The Bear was just enjoying the "Bat Wing" humidity effect (admittedly unusual for a polar bear) but with all this impressive chatter he sees it may be time to welcome the cold in an entirely different manner...with reckless ****ing abandon. If Mrs. Ice Bear even looks at the thermostat she's in big ****ing trouble!

Ice says by the way, please don't let that statement get out... :-X

Just so you guys don't think I'm a sadist, it was in the low 30s at my house at 6:00, and it was a comfortable 68 in my house despite not having the furnace on.

Ah, youngster! The East has softened me .... but I still say I need my own bracket and a No. 1 seed.  ;)

We got frost, but I had my tomatoes and peppers covered.  Looking at the forecast, we should be good for at least a week now.

Full disclosure to Commish BDB, we're having our floors refinished and some additional wood flooring installed next week, so the Duffs will be living out of a hotel for a few days.  Is that cheating?

While covering your vegetable garden for concern of frost is allowed under the Geneva Convention, moving into a heated hotel room with a heated pool, a hot tub and quite possibly a sauna (GASP!) this living arrangement, while temporary must be considered outside the "Furnace Off" boundaries and classify you and the Duff clan being within a "Furnace On" comfort zone.  Waiver denied!   ;D

Ouch!  :o

Well, we'll see which of my compadres crumble before we move to the lap of luxury (aka Hilton Garden Inn).

These things happen occasionally when you have more than one good team in a conference.

Singleton passed Shane Henfling on Saturday for most passing TDs in school history (53). By the end of this Saturday he might also have the all-time passing yards record. Only thrown 10 interceptions in his career for a nice 5.3:1 TD to interception ratio. I really wish the offensive line would be able to hold up against the better teams as it'd be fun to see if he could carve up the more athletic secondaries in the conference. He's inconsistent at times, but he does make some perfect throws. I believe he'll have an additional year of eligibility after this one if he wants it.

Looking ahead to SJU Homecoming--is Air Cobber football still a thing? Even in the win over Presentation (S.D.) where they put up almost 600 yards of total offense, they didn't even crack 200 yards passing. The Cobbers have yet to break 200 yards passing this season. And, in their first conference game against Gustavus, they only mustered 72 yards rushing.

What kind of offensive threats will the Johnnies have to contain?

In fairness to the Cobbers it looks like they mustered 122 yards rushing and it was GAC at 72. QB led the team in rush yards the last 2 games with about 40% of production combined. Been picked off more than sacked and we've been a mixed bag with scrambling QBs.

I've watched two of the Cobber games (not Presentation) and I wonder too what happened to the emphasis on the pass. Nothing was working well offensively in game one. I think penalty yards were the biggest offensive piece of the pie. Against presentation they really didn't need to pass or humiliate the opponent by trying...also started the sophomore at QB. Couldn't find open receivers versus Gustavus...possibly route timing issues. I think it's a problem. Cobbers have some guys that can give big play potential...I'm just not convinced the can show consistency in putting together a sustained drive against a fast defense.
If the human brain were so simple that we could fully understand it...we would be so simple that we couldn't.

Quick Hits is posted on D3FB site. The last question is to pick an upset in one of the top 5 conferences based on their rankings from earlier in the week. 4 of the 6 panelists chose a MIAC game. 2 chose St. Olaf over Augsburg, Pat chose St. Scholastica over Hamline, and Greg chose Macalester over Carleton. It's good to see that they think games between the mid-low tier MIAC schools will be competitive. Makes for some more interesting conference matchups.

The Bear says just another reason he is drawn to the MIAC. Ice says he is looking forward to Bethel's game on the road at GA. GA looks to have a really cool stadium with that section of wrap around seating. GA's only loss coming at the hands of a solid Stout team that only has one loss to undefeated Wartburg. Ice hopes The Bethel O can continue to be effective doing enough on the ground and in the air, let by Roasten Roste, to get another W in the MIAC column. Ice yelps for god's sake let's not have any ****ing injuries either, on both sides.

Ice is looking forward to the weekend of good MIAC football while hoping his embarrassed ****ing Garnet can get it together with their back-up QB and get some positive momentum going against what so far has been an absolute listless Buffalo State team.

Gustavus does have a really nice stadium--much nicer than when I played and it was basically a high school field.
