Ice Bear thanks Royalsfan for that nice write up. Ice was unable to watch any of the game today but is very glad the Royals held on for the victory. Ice Bear gives props to Gus for storming back in the second half today but again, congrats to Bethel for holding on and getting the W.

Ice says the MIAC games were quite impressive today. Scholastica the super Saint held on over Hamline by one, which must have been an entertaining contest, Carleton took out Macalester,  Olaf the friendly ****ing snow man took out Augsburg,  and the Johnnies ate Cobbler...although it was harder on the teeth than anticipated.

The Bear's beloved Garnet took care of business against a horrible Buffalo State team (what the **** has happened in Buffalo?) and stumbled upon what looks to be a promising back up freshman QB who played with poise, threw for three 3 TDS, and showed excellent athleticism. Ice shall see.

Ice roars in support of the Royals and hopes they homogenize Hamline in Arden Hills next week.

It will be my favorite thing ever if Ice Bear turns out to be a Steve Johnson burner account.

That's wouldn't be that far fetched, except he's pretty busy this time of year. It may be  a Freshman assistant that Steve assigned the task to. ;)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

It makes sense. Steve Johnson looks like an ice bear.

Now all we need is to have Pat or Greg refer to Coach Johnson as "the Ice Bear" on the ATN Podcast.

Perhaps we should all put cash into a pool on this. It could be something like we will make a contribution to the D3Football patreon in the amount of $____ if it's used on ATN. And, perhaps there should be a platinum level with an even higher dollar value if Pat or Greg addresses him personally as Ice Bear during an interview: "I'm here with Bethel Royals Head Coach Steve 'Ice Bear' Johnson after a thrilling Homecoming win over Hamline...."

Maybe we need to treat this like when Kramer thinks he sees Joe DiMaggio at Dinky Donuts.

I'm just trying to imagine the world in which Bethel-Hamline is a game I would end up at. But the world has turned upside down before!

Pat, in 1985 or so you probably would have pondered ever ending up at a St. John's-Bethel game! What Bethel did to turn their world downside-up in 5-10 years was extraordinary. It can happen.
If the human brain were so simple that we could fully understand it...we would be so simple that we couldn't.

Let's hope SJU and Bethel make the MIAC Championship game. It could be even more appropriate then! Maybe we have another snowstorm at the end of the game to give you a segue into calling him the ice bear!

Very true. You've just got to have a commitment from the school/alums to improve the program. Unfortunately for Hamline, I haven't heard anything that would give Pipers fans a solid basis for believing the program is going to take large steps forward in the foreseeable future. Maybe I'm wrong, and I'd be happy for someone to prove show me. I just want the MIAC to be the best conference in the country--you know iron sharpens iron and all that.

(Oh, and I want SJU to be the best team in that version of the MIAC that is top-to-bottom the best conference in the country).

Back in '98/'99, I was considering Hamline (from an academic perspective!).  They were still touting their '88 MIAC championship at that point.  Every time we played Hamline, I was very thankful that I didn't end up there--we outscored them 187-3 in my 4 years at SJU!  ;D

What?! 12-year-old Pat Coleman wasn't plugged into the battle amongst SJU, Concordia, Hamline, and Gustavus for the MIAC Crown throughout the 1980s? Or Bob Reade's Augustana Vikings run of four consecutive national championships?!

I'm shocked. I hope you're proud of choosing Thundercats over D3 football.
