He got a few pass attempts in against Augsburg. Not sure there was much to judge since it was a 2-4 outing.

Yeah, it's kind of hard to judge the arm of a QB that's only put in in blowouts.

A tradition unrivaled...

Carleton (+13.5) @ Gustavus

Interesting. I saw Hansen's analytics has Carleton as the 21 point underdog and Gustavus feels like a decidedly better team than Concordia. I think your line will be closer to the truth, but I guess we're talking about a one touchdown difference. We'll see which version of the Carleton offense shows up Saturday. AO, I'd be curious to see at the end of the season who's MIAC lines turned out to be more accurate, yours or Logan Hansens. You seem to be more on the money than not.

At the risk of upsetting some other SJU posters here, I will throw in my 2 cents. Yes, they did run better, but if you take away a 30 yard Trost run, they only averaged 2.3 yards the rest of the game, so not a whole lot better. Syverson was able to get more time mainly because after his early fumble while in the pocket, they had him roll out quite a bit to get away from the rush, which was a great adjustment, so I'm not sure that means the line is gelling. Again, strictly my opinion.

This is a fair assessment (though I am unsure why you, as a Bethel fan, spend so much time watching SJU games).  To be honest, I think Syverson is better rolling out than sitting in the pocket, so it was nice to see them get success rolling him out.

This obviously isn't going to be a SJU team that pounds the ball between the tackles.  Trost is that kind of back, but they have not been able to get that type of offense rolling with this group.  So, they're going to have to get creative and take rushing yards where they can.

As mentioned, Zander Dittbenner finished the 4th Q at QB--he appears to be a threat with his legs--I wonder if he can throw the ball?

Remember the days of Sam Sura (2014, 2015) when SJU threw the ball 15 times per game?  :o

I had to browse some old stats, but 2015 SJU/Bethel:
SJU rushing:  55 rushes for 183 yards (35 for 122 for Sura)
SJU passing:  7 of 14 for 99 yards
Final score:  21-0 SJU

So now I'm questioned why I watch an SJU game just because I'm a Bethel fan? I didn't know I wasn't supposed to watch a non Bethel game and didn't realize watching 2 SJU games was excessive. ::) Well, let me try and explain it to you. Bethel played Macalester on Saturday and that game wasn't going to be a close/competitive game by any stretch. I would much rather watch a game where the 2 teams are more evenly matched rather than watch a blowout. SJU versus GAC was much more appealing to me, not to mention it was such a nice fall day to watch a football game and go for a short road trip in my Corvette.  And I don't know why you are so concerned with which games I watch - nice to know I'm living rent free in your head.  ;D

I honestly coudn't care less how you spend your time, but you seem to pipe in plenty about SJU games.  I am sure you think I'm an asshole.  Rest assured, the feeling is mutual.

I don't know you, and likewise, but when it feels like almost all of your posts are being argumentative, telling people why they're wrong, etc., maybe it's time to find another outlet?  You're not fun to interact with.

Guessing that's true in person too...but hey, I don't have a corvette, or subtly brag about it so what do I know.

Curious if people think the back half of their respective teams schedule helps or hurts their chances heading toward a potential MIAC championship rematch (or does it matter?). Looking at conference and overall records the Northwoods division has the edge over the skyline.

For all the nerves of potential trap games for SJU does BU worry that they aren't going to be tested for several weeks?

I'm not sure what BU or SJU has for nagging injuries, but the upcoming game for SJU against Scholastica is a chance for them to minimize the exposure of any banged up starters and work to get the offensive line to "gel" at game speed as has been mentioned recently.

Carleton is still an intriguing matchup for me. I'm not going to call it a full-blown trap game, but the Johnnies aren't facing the Knights of 2014-2017 that had a 4-36 overall record during that stretch. This year's Carleton team is much closer to the 2007-08 version, which played SJU tight, losing 10-7 in 2007 and 14-10 in 2008, both years the Johnnies scored inside the final minute to escape defeat. It could be a good thing heading into Championship/crossover weekend to be facing a team that is performing well above historical norms and probably has a bit of a chip on its shoulder after the Concordia game.

And what have I said that makes me an asshole? Does my commenting about SJU games upset you? I have nothing personal against you, but you sure have something personal against me. What's the problem?

And if you couldn't care less how I spend my time, why question why I comment about SJU games? I didn't realize only SJU posters were allowed to comment on SJU games.  ::)

So there you go again, you asked why I watched an SJU game and I explained why, so all you can do is criticize me for it. You really have a problem, don't you?

RoyalsFan

I apologize up front since this post is a bit off topic, but if beer and furnace/ac usage discussion is ok, at least this is about sports.

With all the concern about concussions and player safety in sports lately, why is boxing exempt and still allowed when the goal of boxing is to give your opponent a concussion? I'm guessing it has something to do with money, then that means money is more important than player safety in boxing and that doesn't make sense to me.
