So what's with Region 3 gaming the system and ranking 8 teams?  ???

Maybe they felt obligated to get the only four teams in the entire region who played anyone with winning records into the list?  Or, more sinisterly, they have so many cream puff autobids that they snuck their only legit at-large candidate into the game.

EDIT: After looking at who is in the region, I see that the second idea isn't true.  I see that it's the Texas and friends region.  Maybe counting is a challenge?

It's great that 7 teams per region was just a suggestion! Region 6 should have no problem ranking either Augsburg or GAC winner and give a RRO boost to the SJU/BU loser.

It's discussed with the national chair on today's ATN midweek podcast.  Essentially, the chair coudn't vote on this, so that left 4 voting members who split 2-2.  There is nothing that prevents the tie, so they just left it as-is (I think that was the jist of it).

Well before your time, I'm sure. 1969 - 1972

Just by a minute or two   ;)

Were there a lot of other MIAC teams at that point?

We played Carlton, but I don't remember other MIAC squads. We played teams from U of M, U of W, in Tournaments in Chicago and Winnepeg. If you want more info, I can look in my "Up the Long Ladder" by Brian Schnese, history of SJU Rugby. BTW, the first year was 1967.

Get this stuff out of here.  This is now the wind instrument thread.

There's always been a lot of hot air blown on this board...this brassing it up is just a temporary new angle. If you go back 1000 pages there will be a lot of beer talk. And Tommie girl talk too!

1.) Ice played the trombone for two weeks in 6th grade.
2.) Ice BearKaren is ob-****ing-sessed with the trumpet and can never ****ing get enough of Miles, Chet, and Manard to name a few. Ice says nothing like Bill Evans just killing it on the keys as well.
3.) The KarenBear is really ****ing hoping his new found love for Baptists will carry the Royals to victory on Saturday. Ice will watch the game following his Baptist conversion ceremony.
4.) Ice BearKaren would LOVE to see 2 MIAC teams get in. Ice believes it is a possibility with the high SOS. Ice says we shall see.
5.) Ice is admittedly excited to see how an undefeated Linfield team does in the playoffs. Ice says maybe this is their year?

Before you take your instruments out of your hand and concentrate on football, you should have realized Bluenote is a music reference.
I think he still carries his junior high saxophone around McMinnville.

My "corn horn" was always intended to be a music reference. Get your minds out of the gutter, people!  ;D

All right!  We got ourselves a championship game worthy of the name. Best squad v best squad.  Nice.  I hope our boys are up and ready to play.
