That was a very positive first half out of SJU. Syverson looked in the zone and only missed on 4 attempts. Line gave him a lot of time to throw, although some of that was likely the defense dropping quite a few guys back. Lanes opened up well to get us nearly 100 yards out of Underwood and Feddema on the ground. Glad to see Buck targeted early and often. Seemed like a guy who needed a confidence boost, and the distribution showed teams they've got to continue to watch more than Larson (only had 2 receptions).

Defense gave little on the ground. I think UNW had about 42 total yards at half, so much of the Eagles production came in the second as the 2s started getting reps. Nice to log another 5 sacks and a couple of picks.

Wartburg hit UW-LC for 221 on the ground including 200 by 5'9" 189 Hunter Clasen #24. 2nd and 3rd quarter saw Wartburg out gain LC about 2:1, 288-137. Gonna be a big test for our front 7 who've generated a lot of negative plays.

Those top four scores on the d3football.com scoreboard, each in a different bracket, are looking ominous.

I noticed it too, Oz - oof.
please explain...i don't see it.

The teams ranked 1-4 all tossed 50-0 shutouts.  And each is in a different quarter of the bracket.  It's the first round so is to be expected, but it looks ominous all the same.

@duffman,

The box score says 1159 were in attendance. What do you reckon?  That was quite a few people in that cold.

Pleasantly surprised with the BU outcome today.

I think it was a blunder on their part to not run to the outside on the 2 pt conversion at the end, given we had been able to stop outside runs the whole day.

Happy to see Roste stay in all game.  Felt different to see them go so run heavy.

Nice one handed snag by Niewald on 4th down on the drive that eventually yielded the winning points.

I guessed 3k but that may have been generous.  I'm a terrible estimator.  It was sparse, but it was also dang cold.  Thankfully, the nasty wind was out of the NW, so we were well protected in the stands.  At one point, I looked at uprights, and they were swaying in the gusts.  Those folks on the visitor side had it tough.  My family were troopers!

UNW dominated the TOP 35:06 to 24:54.  :o

Any fair catches where the returner took more than 2 steps?

Ha.  There was a kickoff where the UNW returner signaled a fair catch, but a different player caught the ball and attempted to return it.  The play was blown dead with no penalty.  I think that's the correct call, but I don't care enough to look into it.

A fair amount of guys who didn't make the 58 (I'm assuming) also cheered on their teammates. UNW also brought a good amount of fans all things considered. Definitely a sparse crowd by usual standards.

Playoffs are always sparse.  Add in the weather, and it's about what I expected.

Might've been a few who preferred staying in the tailgate lot. Sounds like Logan Hansen is looking for a host for him and a few Wartburg friends.
