Looks like Carleton and Augsburg scrimmaged yesterday. Interesting to scrimmage with a fellow MIAC school, but if they're not on the schedule for the season, why not? Curious to know if anyone happened to be there or heard how it went

Wow. Curasau beats Chinese Taipei in major LLWS upset for the international championship.

Wasn't it $10/game last year? That seems pretty steep.

Home game (in person) ticket price is $15. How does that compare to Bethel or GAC?

BU football alumni get free season passes - unsure what the going rate is at Bethel.
I looked and couldn't find it for BU. Mary Hardin Baylor is $10
for reserved seats: https://cruathletics.com/sports/2009/8/4/GEN_0804094612.aspx
And Mount Union appears be $10: https://athletics.mountunion.edu/sports/2021/7/23/tickets.aspx
Wartburg is $6: https://go-knights.net/sports/2010/6/21/GEN_0621103733.aspx
North Central is $8: https://northcentralcardinals.com/sports/2009/2/12/GEN_0212093719.aspx

My Johnnies appear to be gouging a bit and I'm a bit bothered by it.

Upon further review...I did a few calculations. Round trip to Collegeville and back home is about 170 miles which costs about $30 in fuel. Add in ticket price plus some beverages and vittles and the day costs me $60. Realistically I'll attend in person the Trinity, Bethel and probably the Concordia game. Paying $30 to watch the Carleton and St. Scholastica from home will cost me less than driving up for one game. Change is hard but inevitable.
We all have choices. I get it. Last year our tailgate spots doubled in price, but as one of our group said "they know and we know they know but, what are we going to do, not tailgate before the game? No, and they know it, so we pay."

Last I heard tailgate spots were $100 for the season. So you're saying they're $200 now?
Yep

Building up the coffers for that D1 jump!

@stanbob

I'm having lunch today at the Brighton Baths for the mother-in-law's 80th birthday.

Did the round trip to Madison to drop off Thing 2 for her second year. For those of you that have gone through this I found it to be more emotional that I expected...that said I found some salve for my wounds.

Will bring a couple to the pregame next week.

BDB, you jinxed Taiwan.

Ha. You maybe right ROR. But they looked like a team that thought they already had it all won going in. Didn't start the big dog to save him for the championship. All of a sudden it's scoreless in the 4th inning so then they bring him in and he gives up 2 runs. At that point Curacau was high as a kite and Chinese Taipai didn't know how to deal with it. Crazy.

Both Curacau and California can play the whole game. Should be a good #LLWS Championship game. 2pm CDT. In the consolation game I bet Texas gets destroyed by Taiwan.

faunch, I hear you on the emotion. It was very hard for me to drop my son and then daughter off at college the first times for sure. Wasn't concerned for their safety or anything, just sad to be saying goodbye to that part of my life.

I did not attend and I haven't heard a thing. Nothing on Twitter or IG, as it should be.

It looks like Bartch has the starting LG job at Jacksonville and they may actually be a good squad this year. Fingers crossed for him and his teammates.

"Bartch, the Jaguars' fourth-year veteran guard, was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list last week [...]"

Hard to believe he's been in the league four years already. This is the final year of his rookie contract and will be an unrestricted free agent after this season.

This a a huge money year for Bartch as well. Basically half of his 4-year $4.05M contract will get paid out this year. I know who the people at CSB-SJU Institutional Advancement will be calling non-stop this year!

Hi SJU gang,

I'll be making the journey to Collegeville for the first time this weekend and would appreciate any guidance you can provide re parking, don't miss spots for meals (I like craft beer and the kinds of food usually served at brewpubs), how early I need to get there, and anything else that might be helpful for someone who's only been to your state one time before.

d3football.com has their predictions posted for the upcoming season. Of the 6 panelists answering questions, 2 have St John's reaching the semifinals. They're evenly split between Mount Union & North Central winning the Stagg Bowl. A couple also voted for a Trinity linebacker to be selected as the Defensive Player of the Year. How nervous is anyone with our tough test against Trinity to open the season? Anyone willing to make a prediction on the outcome? Really need to take it one week at a time with the gauntlet that we have to open the season! Whitewater will be looking for revenge the following week & then a bye before facing our toughest conference competition in Bethel. Hope everyone's been great since last season ended! No better time of year than when Johnnie football returns!
