I would also like to see the stats on opponent's 3rd down conversions. In past years, it seemed that SJU opponents were often looking at 3rd and 7 or worse, and failed to convert more often than not. This year, it's 3rd and 3 or 4 at best, and conversion is almost a given.

There's a big game today at Edor Nelson field today quietly flying under the radar. The Cobs are in a quest to climb back up into conference relevance in the matchup vs. the Auggie. A Cob win places them in a de facto divisional championship with Bethel next week. A loss pushes them back down to .500 status and clearly out of the top tier. Similarly, the Auggie are in a steady grind upwards in conference relevance.

Yep...if our D could force a coupe more stops a game and maybe an extra turnover we would be tough to beat. Duffman is 100% correct..it all starts on the d line...we don't have a disrupter.
With 200 guys I'm surprised we haven't tried putting a smaller o-lineman that's got some foot speed that played som defense in high school  in the middle of the D line to try and cause some chaos.

This season SJU is currently 7th out of 10 in the MIAC on opponent 3rd down conversion rate allowing 39.8%. Bethel is first at 28.4% and St Olaf is last at 47.5%.

In 2022, SJU was first at 28.9% and 2021 they were first again at 28.5%.

Anyone coughing up the $15 to watch the CSS/SJU game?
No chance here...if they offered season ticket plus online viewing for $60 I be all in .

I think we can make it until the weekend without turning on the furnace, but not sure if we will make it through the weekend.

Looking at the forecast, I am strongly considering flipping the switch tonight.  :-\
I have been staying/fishing at my cabin on the weekends, heated with wood.

Much like my position in the pick 'ems, I was out of the running embarrassingly early in the annual furnace competition. I think the only reason I had been competitive the last few years was due to the fair fall weather we had in Sioux Falls. Once the wife sees the temperature below 70° in the house, I'm getting "the look."
Sing us a song, you're the piano man

Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Considering my 4 tix alone run almost $500, you're dreaming.  I'd like to pay $0.89/gallon for gas, too.

I paid for my season tix and the season streaming pass--today'll be the 2nd game we've been to, and I've streamed 1 game.  That's financially sound!

Boys of Fall

I think there have been three issues with this year's team:
1. Interior line play.  On both sides of the ball they have not been dominant like in years past.  This can be seen in the inconsistent running game (at best) and not getting pressure on the other team's qb.
2. Lack of playmakers.  There are not playmakers this year, either offensively or defensively, that make a play at crucial times of the game.
3. Penalties.  This lack of discipline has hurt all year.  If I remember correctly, every drive that Augsburg scored on was saved by a penalty on third and long or on fourth down.
That being said, if there is a way the Johnnies can get into the playoffs they might make a run.  The second half against Trinity, the 2nd quarter/early 3rd quarter against UWW, and the Bethel game all give hope.

Since I live 5 hours away, I bought the online season pass so that I could stream the home games. Hopefully whatever proceeds they earn from those of us that can't easily get up to games can use those funds to improve the team! Definitely disappointing that we'll have to rely on luck as opposed to skill to make it to the playoffs! Wish our stock was rising! Love everyone's insights! Enjoy your Saturday!

But you're paying for 4 reserved seats...i think general admission season tix are $60 for one person but i could be wrong. So let's say $85 for season general admission plus streaming.

That all being said at times i feel kind of bad being critical of the program...but having the most expensive fan experience in D3 and currently being ranked #18 is kind of sad.

I'm hoping Bethel gets more than 6 votes in the Top 25 this week after the smothering win over Carleton. UMHB drops out with the loss to Hardin-Simmons, so somebody has to take their place...

#MIAC will get smoked in playoffs if they get a WIAC team or Wartburg.

Bethel lost 16-2 to Wartburg in season opener

Retired Old Rat

Someone asked earlier what we would say about the fact that SJU has a former FCS quarterback who was also recruited by FBS programs.  At least according to some guy on Gopher Hole.  I would add he did not see the field with the FCS program.

I would say we played four quarterbacks today and he was not one of them.  Far as he can tell he is yet to make the travel roster.

And johnnies lost to whitewater by 28 in week three and GAC lost to Stout 24-7 in week 3.
So doesn't look good for the MIAC.
