Sounds like Wartburg got burned more than once as their defenders didn't keep receivers in front of them. Apparently lost a number of key pieces from last as well. Really wish we had an insider on the ground in Collegeville to share with us how the preparation has gone, what the team's mindset is, etc? We're 0-2 against them under Fasching having last been handed a season ending loss in 2022 by a score of 23-20. Hoping that the team has a bad taste in their mouth from that loss & being left out of last season's playoffs & uses this game to make a statement! Appreciate everyone's thoughts/insights! Go Johnnies!

Wartburg's QB was their leading rusher last game so it'll be interesting to see how we handle a bigger OL protecting a mobile QB. Their big WR seemed to be the go-to in the air like Wheeler is for us.

Certainly going to need 4 quarters of focus tomorrow.

If I remember correctly from 22, Syverson threw 4 picks and we had a punt blocked for a touchdown. Only lost by 3. My guess is whoever wins the turnover battle wins the game. If it's even I'm going with the Johnnies.

Pulling for SJU big time. Let's go!

I'm assuming from what I've seen that my newly adopted Baptist Royals should get the W this week. I'm looking forward to seeing who the starting QB will be (I'm sure everyone knows I've just been ****ing buried at work and home this week and havent had a chance to check out ****). Let's go Baptist Royals! Big W, no injuries, and move on 1-0.
A long time fan of DIII Football!

Curious if they'll settle on one or two or play all three of them?

I looked at the depth chart - Cooper Drews - our Johnnie convert, is listed as the starting QB, with Albert Rundell as the second.

I'm confused.  I guess I though SJU finished third last year? :-X

Weird flex IMO. Johnnies carry 200+ on the roster so aren't transfers inevitable? I believe Johnnies received a transfer from Bethel this year as well. Do the sloppy seconds cancel out? I have no dog in this hunt so not clear on how this works.

Not sure Royals fans should feel great about SJU's 4th stringer coming in and winning the starting job right away...

OzJohnnie

Ah, well.  The Hawthorn run ends with a three-point loss at Port Adelaide.

we good

Honestly, SJU backups could probably be starters in a lot of cases, and QB was a glaring weakness for Bethel last year, for the most part, so it isn't super shocking for me?  Hopefully he can get going - they have good receivers and a strong RB, so he has the support.

4th string as a freshman with like 10 QB's on roster too, so that's probably a decent outcome?

faunch

Honestly never heard of Cooper Drews until he transferred. Who knows maybe he'll be really good. He's a big dude at 6'5". Crazy that he's the second quarterback named Cooper that transferred from SJU in recent years. Maybe he'll return to Collegeville next year. Truth is he probably wouldn't have got a shot to start for the Johnnies until his senior year.
On another note I don't see SJU being able to stop Wartburg tomorrow. My line is the Knights -7.5 and I think I'd take the Knights. Sure hope I'm wrong and the SJU defense can get 2 or 3 stops and a turnover or two.
