In 2003 I felt confident we could win every game.
In 2019 I was also confident we could win.
Until the 2024 teams demonstrates the defense can stop or at least hold a good offense in check I won't have much confidence.

Today's tilt with Wartburg & the matchup in Arden Hills on the 28th are easily the most consequential of the regular season schedule (obviously)! Will feel great about our chances against Bethel if we look good today! I don't think we'll have a hiccup against Gustavus so likely won't truly be tested outside of these next two games until the playoffs.

Wow was I wrong. Amazing improvement and performance by the Johnnie D!!!

Any idea what the final sack count for us was? Wartburg was held to 9 yards rushing! Thoughts on this St John's team after two games? Eye test results & postseason predictions? Can we make the semifinals?

SJU13

I think initial post game stats is showing 8 for the sack count.

After 2 games we've looked much more cohesive as a group. We're generating a decent amount of negative yardage plays on defense and we're showing a better ability to run the ball on offense. Almost a bit of a bummer we have to wait an extra week before playing Bethel.

Mark Lewandowski said 10 sacks on the postgame broadcast so if that's accurate we had more sacks against them than they had yards (9)! I hope they keep their motivation up & put in the work to make this a special season!

UNI isn't very good by MVC standards...too bad the Tommie$ are 0-2

Eh, UNI has finished tied for 3rd in the MVC the last two years and is usually top half of the league (Covid season being an outlier). They've struggled to get past NDSU and more recently SDSU. But in the toughest FCS conference in the country they more than hold their own.

Wow, what a game by the D and by Syverson. I can't wait until SJU gives us access to the replay to I can see it.

With authority. Not all Monkey Stomps are created equal. That's a legit one.

First in Arden Hills is about what you'd have expected. BU too fast and physical.

35-0 with 6:28 to play in 2Q.

Cobber defence is looking much improved from a year ago after two outings, but the offense is really struggling. O line gave up 11 sacks today and the run blocking was equally lacking. Hard to believe they got 31 points, and I have no issue with a 31-3 victory on the road, but it was ugly.

Fun game in Collegeville today!  I'm glad I decided to go for 7/8ths of it.
1) I like Blakey.  The dude's a baller!
2) I felt like we didn't get enough pressure on the QB early in the game, but they really remedied that as the game went on.
3) Syverson 34/38?!  Sheesh.  He does struggle with those swing passes, though. ;D
4) Wheeler (the receiver) is legit!
5) I don't think Warty is a #5 team, but they're definitely a playoff-caliber team.  The Carthage win showed nothing, but this win makes me feel good.

Mac loses to MLC... Can we just get rid of them again?
