It certainly wasn't their best game, but there were a lot of positives, and Auggie Tech has some very good players.

Here's some positivity...I was able to watch most of the game in my phone this morning while recovering after a wedding last night. By clicking the 30 second fast forward I was able to watch most of the game in about a half hour.
It sucks getting old..... 8-)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

A few thoughts on the Augsburg game:
1) It's always nice to come out of a trap game with a win.
2) Augsburg had a good game plan.  They found a mismatch in our secondary and took advantage.
3) The Auggies made it an ugly game and we played at that level.  Need to cut way down on the penalties.
Those who have been involved know every win is good.

SJU was also ahead of Mount Union briefly in 2022. Then-#2 SJU had 7 first place votes vs. MU's 4.

Saturday was a good day at SJU
-great crowd and tailgating, as usual
-having a balanced offense will pay huge dividends as the season progresses, particularly in short yardage situations
-the two Wheelers are wonderful weapons and Syverson is a surgeon when both are playing well
-the defense is playing with a level of aggressiveness that is refreshing, with one major caveat...Akoh needs to be trained up on the "walk away" drill...allowing stalled drives to continue because he can't keep a level head is no bueno
-some killer stats YTD; Total Offense at 482.2/game, given up 165 total yards on the ground, have punted only 6 times on the year...TOP average is 34:44, converting on 3rd down at 50%, have 20 sacks, converting Red Zone scores at 88%

It was also great to see my former teammate, Denis McDonough, receive the Bob Basten Award!

One element that wasn't good at SJU on Saturday was the officiating....this crew was completely overmatched and had numerous administrative errors during the game.  Most flags took several minutes of discussion to render a call, often incorrect in the rules application.

That's awesome.  He's kind of a big deal.  I met him briefly years ago at John's funeral.  That was after St. Glenn pushed our golf cart up the incline in Mary Lot. ;)

A tradition unrivaled...

He's been Deputy National Security Advisor, the president's Chief of Staff and is now the Secretary of Veteran's affairs.

I reckon I would like to do the NSA job the most out of those.

Furnace still off but wondering what thoughts the group has on fireplaces and heated car seats. I have to admit that as I write this the gas fireplace is on and I have used my heated car seats a couple times already.

Gas fireplaces, no.  Wood, yes.  That would be my vote.  It all comes down to effort.  Wood fireplaces don't get lit unless it's cold enough to justify the effort.

Heated car seats... if there is snow on the ground then yes, otherwise toughen up.

But I don't make the rules.  That's BDB's honour.

I miss my wood fireplace. First house had one and yes we would wait until at least a November chill was in the air and we had time to enjoy a fire. Our gas one is older but comes on with a flick of a switch.
It's been in the 40's the last few morning and my vehicle is parked outside overnight. Also the heat helps out a stiff back and sore legs sometime...heat therapy.

Haven't used the heated seats yet, but I have no qualms about using them!  I don't think I'd buy a car without them.

My car has a heated steering wheel and I confess I use that with abandon. Warm my hands and the rest of me is good to face anything.

My wife is ALWAYS cold & I'm always hot. She's tired of hearing me say that she can always put on more clothes, but I can only take off so many. She has plenty of blankets & sweatshirts!

So... if you turn the furnace on then you and your wife will both be wearing less clothing?  I'm just saying, mate, but this furnace contest ain't squat. Take the bigger win.
