There's a young fella named Tom Ellis from Sartell that's studying down at Notre Dame. He graduated from SJU this past May. He and some other D3 guys (several from Wabash) tailgate before the Notre Dame games and show their D3 colors.

Quote from: faunch on December 21, 2024, 05:13:29 PMAnyone know why the D2 championship is being played today but we gotta wait until after new years to play the D3 championship on a Sunday???

It would be really hard to play a D-III championship game today since we still have to eliminate two teams.

Am I missing something? Are there still 4 teams left?

I think the only thing you're missing is the passing of 24-plus hours since my comment. :)

You made the comment at around 6:30 pm which was after the 2 games had already been played and said we still have 2 teams to eliminate. So at the time of your comment, there were only 2 teams left, which is why I was confused.

Yes. Saturday started with two more teams to eliminate, therefore, we could not have played a title game on Saturday.

Why not play the semifinals and championship on the same day?  Just start both semis at noon, then the winners play each other at 7:00, after they get some dinner in the teams.
Also, since the officials seem to ask be buffoons, play it sans officiating.

Just play it on the honor system: each team calls their own fouls.

Or maybe we could get robots to officiate?

For decades Indiana hoops did this back in the one-class days. The state semis and finals were on the same day. So if you were in that later semifinal game, you only had a couple of hours to recover. Was the same way with the equivalent of their sections: semis and title on same day. It sounds ludicrous and they eventually did away with it but I'm sure it was a lot of fun for fans to see all that action in one day.

Sweet.  Toyota paid for those, not Purdy.

I hope Deshawn Watson is buying his guys Lamborghinis or Ferraris.  With his own money.

I'm guessing Kirk Cousins will be buying his guys Vespas.

Been out of touch and had my heart ripped out when I heard on the podcast that Matt Jung is now a Badger. Like others have already said, good for him and I'll be watching the Badgers to see how he does for the next couple of years.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news on that one. Bummed to be losing him from D-III but at least he is going to the highest level. I'd be sad if he were leaving us for even some place like NDSU.

Jung could have just scratched that D1 itch by heading over to the corner of Cretin and Summit.

NDSU would have crushed the Badgers this year.
