KR,

Congrats on 3000.  I don't know how you find the time.  You're going to have to get a Crackberry or a Palm so you can post when you are being a doctor.  I can see it now:

"I can't defibrillate you right now.  AO just topped himself with another idiotic post.  And MR is trying to pump up the lame Royals.  Got to respond right now.  Damn, this is a lot harder just using your thumbs."

p.s.  Could you get your rotation moved to the U of M?  Looks like I'll be going under the knife there soon.  Always good to have someone looking out for you.   8)

That will be the day! I'll have to figure out how to post one way or another when I make it to the real world.

I don't think you want me and my incredible lack of experience around when you're under the knife. All I'd be able to offer would be well wishes and prayers. if you let me know the date, I can offer those from pretty much anywhere!

Are you getting a face lift? ;)

Hey fins, why next to your Posts does it say "leet".  ???

Or is that just me.  ???

That is wierd.

From Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.0.1) -
leet
–noun British Obsolete
1. a special annual or semiannual court in which the lords of certain manors had jurisdiction over local disputes.
2. the area over which this jurisdiction extended, including the manor itself and, sometimes, nearby counties or shires.

I think this must have something to do with the Pace Arrow.

I seem to remember having "leet" as my total once, too, but next time I posted, it changed to an actual number again.  That, or maybe it's a terrorist act.

A tradition unrivaled...

I was just kidding, I thought maybe you wanted to look more like TDT ;)

Back surgery is one of the few surgeries people look forward to having. Good luck with it!

Dammit, just as I suspected, the stoopid computer read "1337" as "leet" in leetspeak. Get it?

So, now we know. Who's the next member of the leet elite? I'm gonna throw you a leet party.

Kilted Rat,

Just read on the IIAC board that Andy Tekippe tore his ACL.  He is going to try to rehab it instead of surgery so he can play.  Is that a wise thing?

That all depends on the degree of the tear and how much he wants to be able to get down and crawl around with his kids when he's 30.

If it's not a complete tear, you can get by with rehab. It won't be as stable and the slightest blow or wrong turn could finish the tear necessitating surgery.

Being that the ACL is a ligament, there's not a whole lot you can do to rehab it. You can't strengthern a ligament, you can only strengthen the muscles around the knee to stabilize it.

So basically without having seen and checked out his knee or having seen his MRI it's hard to say, also I'm only a 3rd year med student, so my knowledge of these things is limited at best. I would hope whatever he's doing is under the guidance of an Orthopedist.

KR: I hope your karma presents found their way over to the UMAC board.  Though if you went through 3 pages of the UMAC board you'd have helped out nearly every person who has ever posted there.  I was also happy to see your spirits up so much, until I ventured over the pick em page and noticed you ranked Northwestern just below a dead meerkat.  Glad to see you thought Northwestern had a place in the conference anyhow.

I also found a little information for miactrackguyfFpm and anyone else that is in pick em's and has a very low opinion of Northwestern.

Apparently if Hamline and Northwestern had kept score during the scrimmage it would have been about 35-7 in favor of Northwestern.  Even though mayville state has struggled in the DAC-10 I wouldn't be suprised if they won by more than a score.  Then again, It is also somewhat possible that Hamline might win by 20.

It can be done, but is it in his best interest.  I know of a few football players that have rehabed instead of surgery (most lineman).  If the the ACL is partially torn then I would say if it is his last season then give rehab a shot and if it doesn't work out the ACL is already torn and he will need surgery at some point anyway.  The risk of playing without an ACL is it opens up the added risk of tearing other ligaments in the knee.   I suspect he will be wearing a brace if he does come back.
As a team doctor for a semi-pro football team here in Mlps I wouldn't clear the player to play and advise the surgery.  In that case it would be because giving him a release to play would put my liscence on the line and there is still next year.   For Tekippe I would urge him to talk with orthopedics in his area and make an informed decision and think LONG TERM; is one season of glory worth risking having to worry about you knee each and every time you play with future kids and grandkids.  If the risk is worth it then if he gets clearance then go for it and don't look back.

The people I talked with said NW played like it was reguar season and actually meant something while Hamline was working on new things  and at times it showed but overall it was pretty close.
