Was it just me or was that Johnnie game a yawner ?? Not to overly exciting. Kofoed looked better still made so bad passes ( i.e his cross body pass back into the middle of the field in the first quarter). Defense seemed to hold again. UWRF did drive the ball well a couple times though. I still think it was better than last week though.

Defense again the story of the day for the Royals.  Have not seen the stats but I dont think Simpson got 50 on the ground.  Wetzell had an amazing day running today, as the Simpson broadcasters were very impressed with him.  Very sloppy offensively for both teams.  9 fumbles between the two of them before the rain.  Simpson had one legit touchdown.  And the nice part is we were 3 out of 4 pat's and field goals.  One field goal from about 30 yards.  We will take it, on to Arden Hills and the Cobbs next...    8)

Another great day behind the pine curtain.

Is was great meeting BDB as well as Coach Todd Strop from UW-Stout.  Both are great guys and I know they had a great time.  Thanks for the cups and awesome cheese tray, Bob.

Good seeing KR and PI again.  KR should have been wearing his kilt IMO.  Fred Falcon was also at the game but I didn't get a chance to speak to him other than to introduce myself.

SJU's first drive was good but then the offense sputtered in the first quarter.  As someone else mentioned Kofoed's pass back across the middle instead of throwing it out of bounds was ridiculous.  Our D played very well throughout the day and in the second half our offense was much improved.  Still many things to work on but I thought our play today was much better than last week.

Great seeing Fins, JR, Duff, and Frank again as usual.

Go Johnnies!!!

Well, Johnnies rolled big time today.  I'm not sold on their offense, especially at quarterback.

Stiftungfestivities was awesome as always.  Good to meet BDB and his special guest.

How bout them Gusties!!!!

Huge thanks to Bennie for the game updates...I owe you a Hamms next time you're in state.

They had Olaf SID on after the SJU game. Oles sound pretty balanced. They were down 10-0.

Great game, great burgers (thanks JR), great beer (thanks Veek), Great kool-aid (thanks Fins), great mugs (thanks BDB), and great conversations (thanks Duff, Frank, Maniac, Stout coach, DustySJU, Carbo, PI, and everyone else I'm forgetting!)
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Good Job Gusties!! ;D  35-7!! It was a little weird at first yelling "Go Gusties", but I was able to adjust quickly! They had a good game. Considering that this was their season opener, they played pretty well.  I was impressed by the chemistry between Stolp and Arlt. Chad did a great job of getting to the ball. Both teams seemed to have problems with their pass defense and their running game, so almost all of the ball movement for both teams in the first half was through the air. Both running games picked up a bit in the second half (Willamette's more than GAC'S). The score easily could have been 42-0. The Willamette score was a fluke. Willamette threw a pass that was intercepted by a GAC player who then fumbled the ball which a Bearcat picked up and ran in for the TD. With less than 2 mins left in the game the Gusties were inside the five and could not punch it in (Mehr was in at QB). The strangest thing about the game was the Willamette QB's stance when he was up under center. He would crouch down and literally be peaking over the center's shoulder pads...weird! Anyway, it was a fun game to watch. There were quite a few Gustie fans at the game. Now I need to decide if I want to watch the Duck game or take a nap! KR and Frank weren't the only ones to have late (liquor filled )nights last night! ;D

Great report bennie. Outside of the Auggies, the MIAC had a good day.

MR did you go to the game today?  If so how did Simpson look.  Sounds like they kept it pretty close.  Your Royals shut the Storm running game down big time.

After seeing the Royals play last year.  I would have to give them a huge award for good sportsmanship.  They will hit you hard and flatten you and then pick you up and say come for some more.  lol.  I really think they were a class team and enjoyed watching the two teams play.  Good luck as the MIAC starts.
