greetings MIAC fans- with the johnnies playing augsburg this weekend it looks like the tilt between the cobbers and bethel will be the big matchup of the weekend. while the royals defense seems to be solid this year, they are minus porta, how do you think they will deal with a cobber team who, come saturday, has had two weeks to stew over a difficult loss to their bitter rival msum?

Bitter rival Hasn't been much of a rivalry lately! This coming from an MSU grad.

You want to talk bitter rivals let's talk Johnnie's v. Tommies  ;)

Would that be analogous to having a daughter go to Notre Dame and a Son  to USC?

Tmerton: There are a few of those situations around these parts.  You might ask MiacManiac what it feels like to be the "Black Sheep" of his family.  Also noteworthy would be Big Lee (MY YAK) and his wife who were Tommies yet continue to send the kids to SJU.

Very interesting about the Auggie Tech Ticket situation.  "only 600 tix will be sold to SJU fans", so does that mean if you are wearing red and white they won't let you in?  WTF, Money who needs money?  God forbid they make some to help IMPROVE the rest of the pathetic Auggie Tech sports teams...this program is an absolute embarrassment to the MIAC.

If this game was in McMinnville, I would definitely be there! I think it will be a good game!! :D

the women's water polo team show up in their swimsuits, caps and goggles to watch the hockey game.

That just might be worth coming to watch. 8)

They always seem pretty wild. I am sure if you brought some of your Kool Aid, they would even let you sit with them and keep them warm! ;D I'll stick with the hockey players! ;)

There may be a few worth keeping warm...

Here is the most updated word regarding the construction at Augsburg that I can find:
SCOUTING THE AUGGIES: There's a lot of construction going on at Augsburg College these days. A new addition to the Si Melby Hall athletic complex, the Kennedy Sports and Recreation Center, is under construction and will open during the upcoming school year. New bleachers will be installed at Edor Nelson Field, and a brand new air-supported dome will cover the field beginning this winter.

The new Oren Gateway Building, featuring a Barnes and Noble campus bookstore, retail shops, offices and student housing, is being built along Riverside Avenue in the center of campus. Other improvements are being made to the overall campus infrastructure. A new college president, Dr. Paul Pribbenow, has taken office and will have his formal inauguration in October.

And on the Sprinturf surface at Edor Nelson Field, another major construction project is taking place -- the building of the Augsburg football team.

Gotta run for now. I will be off the board for about a week! I suspect by the time I get back I will have about 30 pages to catch up on. I also will be able to read about the Johnnies double monkey stomp of Auggie Tech. ;D

Maybe KR and the Fry Guy tunes should be the official Stingy fest music?

Anything would be better than that Paris Ho-ton CD. That is terrible! I'd rather listen to drunk overweight bennies sing Cecilia than that crap again.

Please JR, bring back U2 like Stiftungfestivities were meant to be!

Bench and I are friends. We had a rap group in the late 90's called KR and the Fry Guy. We sold 3 albums; 1 to each of our mom's and we chipped in to buy one to share.

KR, using my old school math, that means you only have 999,997 more to sell to have a Gold Album!

Where are they all, in some U-Store-It place?  ???   :D

They're in Bench's mom's basement. You know, BDB, they would look great in your gas stations with the impulse buys like the sandal on a stick fly-swatter, the zippo lighters, and stuff. Is $0.99 too much to ask? I have to talk to Bench and see if we can agree on your cut. I'm thinking you get a nickle for each one sold, I get 50 cents, Bench gets 25 cents, Bench's mom gets 10 cents for storing them, 5 cents from each goes to the producer (me) and the remaining 4 cents is split evenly between the beer fund and Jerry's kids. Sound good to you Bench?

- KR is as funny in person as he is on this board. I agree with Veek that you should have had your kilt on.  :D

It was an honor to finally meet BDB, glad to know I didn't dissapoint.

Old-
Do you know if Porta will be playing?  The only way I see CC winning is if they pass for 350 yds on the day...no way can they run over BU.  If BU cuts down on turnovers (I think this will be nipped in the bud after this last weekend), they should have no problem this weekend.  Just going on what CC has done thus far this season (which is only 1 game I believe) and the loss of their Senior class last year.

You're welcome. I always go that extra mile for my Bethel friends.

You have friends? ;D

Fond memories, though after you changed your name to DJ Malpractice Suit people thought you were just trying to be more street. It's a shame really, I thought our second album could have gone aluminum.

Yeah, the name change went about as well as Prince's except worse. Do we still owe your cousin that dollar for making our sophmore album, "Yo Momma Can't Rap like We does"?

tmerton,

I do have that problem in mine.  I have son that graduated from Wartburg and one that is attending Central now.  The bantering never seases.  The boys do get along but the jabs and barbs are always there.  I just stay out of it and tell them to keep it to a dull roar.

Mighty Royal-

sources from inside cobberville say that the running game that was virtually absent versus the dragons will be back to its old ways this weekend at bethel, should be interesting to see how that shakes out

royalachilles

Cornhole, great name, what changed this week to bring back the run attack of old out of concordiaville??  Why was it absent last week and what did they change that has you convinced of it.  Porta should be back unless a mishap this week, and Mighty Royal, most of the Bethel D is good, the rush D is good, the secondary is as good as it has been in a while, but the best is yet to be proven. A win and the season looks promising, a loss and the season is going to be a *****.  Bethel will need for everything to go good including the kicking game that wasn't too bad last week to beat the cobbers. Could probably use some jungle karma.....
