What's with the Gusties?
The Tomcats Monkey Stomped them.

Sooo....in a Monkey Stomp you allow the other team to score a little. Is that correct?

Congratulations Johnnies (and fans) on a dominant victory.  There were some defintie weaknesses in our defense which you exploited, (and then exploited it again, and again ... ).  The Ole offense just couldn't get much going and all around we had a bad day.  The way the Johnnies were playing today the Oles needed a perfect game to have a chance at winning and came up far short.

I had heard a lot about how great Clemens stadium is for a game, and was not disappointed.  When I first entered, the stadium didn't seem as impressive as it had been made out to be, but as the stands and the surrounding grass filled I realized why gameday there is so well talked about.   I liked the enthusiasm of the student section as well as the sheer number of non-student fans there.

I was wondering what the Johnnies fans thought of the officiating today.  From my biased perspective they seemed awful.  They definitely blew it on the non-call of pass inteference on Olaf early in the game, but they definitely added to the slaughter with their atrocious calls and non-calls.  Whether it was having a very generous definition of offensive holding, waiting until the chains were stretched to spot the ball short on third down, failing to notice a flagrant facemask by St. John's in the second half, or ignoring a hit as our quarterback was in a foot-first slide (unless I'm mistaken, this is a personal foul by rule), they seemed (again in my biased perspective) to be trying to help the Johnnies out.

Congratulations again on a good game and good luck in the playoffs!

Touchdown Tommy

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, if you listen carefully you can hear OAS chomping on a large helping of crow.

Oles were pathetic today and belong in the same class as BU, MIAC mediocrity.

Chasing MILFs since '82...

Congrats to Ryan Weinandt for a second-straight upset victory in the state fb playoffs today.

Touchdown Tommy

Pig Pen got another win today?  Wow he is sweet.  KR would you not agree??

Meidt got a taste of his own medicine today.  Lucky John called off the dogs or the pathetic, helpless, weak Oles woulda been spanked even worse.  Wahoo3 did you enjoy the game today? :o

Glad to wake up to nearly a triple monkeystomp. Late night otherwise would have tuned in on the net.

Cobbers will run all over STO. They will also put a real physical hurt on the Oles. It will as others have noted be a long bus ride up and an even longer one back for STO.

Hope to see Concordia and SJU in playoffs- both should win in the first round- maybe meet each other again in Collegeville this time. I will be a good rematch.

Pat Coleman

I sure hope we have no more calls for St. Olaf to get ranked.

Look at Gator's data on common opponents. SJU has outperformed St. Olaf against common opponents and this doesn't even take into acocunt the fact that SJU's starters did not play in the 4th (and sometimes 3rd) quarter against Hamline, GAC, and Carleton. Teams that Meidt seemed set on "sending a message" against by leaving starters in ridiculously long.

Be cautious of comparing 'like' opponents.  It seldom is a good indication of future match-ups.  Keep in mind CORD had to keep Carleton out of the end zone to secure a win while SJU put up a MonkeyStomptm...

Based on the thrashing today in Collegeville, I stand behind my like team comparisons ;)

sfury

Strib game story. I hadn't realized SJU scored on nine straight possessions. That's gotta be some sort of school record, not that such a record exists.

Pig pen is definitely sweet!

His boys must be giving him a hard go of it, I heard he's already getting some gray hairs :o

Sounds like SJU looked as impressive as the broadcast sounded.

Anyone who was there wanna comment on the late hits and personal fouls by the Olies? Linneman was not impressed at all and pointed the ginger straight at Meidt.

Did Meidt shake John's hand at the end of the game?

Who was the Doofus that predicted 300 yards passing for Kofoed in the 1st Half. I bet you feel foolish now - He only got 283!!  ;) ;)

That doofus would be me.  I promise to never make such an outlanish prediction ever again.   ;D

If Gearman had gotten up and caught the ball after that Ole tackled him on that terrible non call I would have been LOW on my prediction.   8)

I think the officiating was terrible today,

I agree.  The non-call on the tackle of Gearman was one of the worst I have ever seen.

From the Star Trib article:

Quote"We never expected this," St. John's sophomore quarterback Alex Kofoed said. "To beat them by 50 points?"

Actually, Alex, it was 54... but who's counting?

No one ever accused him of being a math major! ;D
