Retired Old Rat

Lots of good posts today.  My wife keeps asking me what is wrong with me I'm laughing so loud and so much.

I have to go with this one as my favorite:

Here's the part that was edited out of the Star-Tribune article.

Nice Job today SJU!!  You and the cobber's I think showed you are in a class of your own.  Bus Driver, you are without question the biggest asshole on this site.  With that, I'll be done writting here.  I'm sure I"ll get kicked off, but bus driver should have been asked to leave many weeks ago with his classless remarks!  Best of luck in the playoff's SJU and hopefully Cobbers!  And yes, I'm a BU supporter, but with class!

There were handshakes at the end of the game, I don't know what Meidt looks like but I'm guessing that was who John shook hands with.  It was great to hear the incredible silence from the Oles side and the SJU student section singing Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole after each successive touchdown.  My voice is just starting to come back  ;D I was being naysayed about the MonkeystompSM but after the 5th TD the questions were no more.  Absolute dominance over a team that even IF they played perfectly couldn't have won.  I havn't seen the box score but I believe SJU had 2 maybe 3 penalties all day, the Oles had a lot more, cheapest was the late hits.   Probably could have been more called for illegal motion for all the times there were recievers in motion moving forward before the snap.  Obviously didn't matter since the Double MonkeystompSM and almost triple was applied (I almost thought they were going to run that last play with 25 seconds left at the end!).  How does that saying go "Ya gotta play by the rules, cheaters!)  Given enough ammo I may have more to say but for now I believe a congratulation is in order to SJU for clinching at least the tie for the conference and a playoff spot!  Great game guys!

STO's dominance in the MIAC was again evident today. They played above their game average. Unfortunately, it was in the area of penalties - 10 for 98 yards.  >:( I think the cheap shots today were ridiculous and senseless, as they are in any game. And yes it is a reflection on the coaching. STO should be ashamed.

I hope Concordia  sends a big message next week. By that I mean a big score, not cheap shots.

Cheap shots are for losers.

STO, clean up your act.

There. I'll get off my soapbox now.

Have a good day all. :D

Well done, Johnnies.  Looks like I need to change my sig to add another year!

Doesn't get any easier for STO.  Next week is essentially a playoff qualifier game, though the SJU score certainly will be a black mark on the Oles getting into the playoffs via Pool C, while Concordia's SJU score is a net benefit for the Cobbers.  Hopefully we'll see a better game in Moorhead than we did in Collegeville.

Think our close personal Linfield friends will appreciate the Associated Press lead on SJU-STO in the Pioneer Press?

Did Meidt shake John's hand at the end of the game?

If I know which one he was on the Ole sideline, I saw him jog 85% of the way across the field to meet Gag's just a few step from the SJU sideline.  He then shook John's hand, shared a few words, and jogged to the palestra.

I thought it actually looked pretty classy.

Fortunately the ref's tossed some flags on the Ole's, which I believe helped to clean things up at least a little bit.

All Monkeystomps in the MIAC--

SJU-63-STO-9, Bethel beat Carleton 41-0, Concordia beat Augsburg 48-14, St. Thomas beat Gustavus 35-14; and Hamline beat Macalester 54-0 in a nonconference game.
;D

Great game yesterday for the J's.  It's nice knowing that the J's are gelling at the right time of the season.  Turnover worries are a thing of the past.  This team has a great deal of talent and the coaching staff is finding new uses for it each game.

Great seeing everyone today and it was nice having Elvis in the house.

Good having JR back grilling burgers, too.  They always taste better when you don't have to grill them yourself!

Go Johnnies!!!

Kilted Rat

Thanks all for the handshake info.

I gotta give Meidt some props for going over. It's got to be very humbling to come into a game like this riding on an undefeated record, having beat SJU last year (fluke or not), and with playoff hopes this year and to end up getting throttled.

Veek,
What are you doing up at 3:30 in the morning? That's not healthy for people your age ;)

Esq or anyone else,

Do the Olies have a realistic chance of making the playoffs even if they beat Concordia (not likely) having lost to SJU by 54?

I know Keith mentioned NWC as having an outside shot at the playoffs in his last ATN. Does NWC's loss to SJU by 50 make them a more likely playoff team than Olaf who lost by 54 especially if Olaf takes next weekend off too?

Thoughts?

Thanks to Johnnie Red for the tailgate party. Nice to see & talk to many of the regulars.

KR- The Oles have slim to no chance of a pool C even if they beat the Cobbs next week.

Cobber Coaching Staff: THROW the ball, you'll see on tape that it works out quite well ;)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Methinks that, for the Oles, Donner will follow Blitz by a week.

Hard to say about Whitworth.  If the Oles beat the Cobbers, they will enter the final week with only one loss, but with a win over a Regional Ranked Opponent, which has to count for something.  But if Central beats Wartburg, Central will be the same record; however, Central also beat Augustana, which is non-regional ranked opponent; given the SJU score I think STO then is behind Central in Pool C pecking order.

Whitworth is a Pool B opportunist.  There are a ton of variables going into that; however, their one loss is to a team called Linfield.  Not too shabby.  They are a strong pool C candidate if they get pushed that far.  However, Concordia probably has a leg up on them if Concordia beats the Oles because of their SJU score.

For the Oles to make the playoffs, IMO, they need to beat the Cobbers convincingly (14-20 points).  A monkey stomp would not hurt.

From Shooter today:

Word is several University of St. Thomas alumni are focusing on a prominent Minnesota high school football coach if the college makes a coaching change at season's end.

Dave Nelson, perhaps?
