Esq, didn't grant interview at St. Thomas last time there was an opening? And he intereviewed at concordia before Horan was hired as well. It's not like there are a lot of "prominent" high school coaches you'd think would take over an MIAC job. Nelson obviously being one of the other ones.

I stand by my earlier post that Donner will follow yesterday's Blitz for the Oles.   8)

KR-
My copy is now worn out in that spot.....it skips everytime I try to play it.  Everytime that I see that game I remember how it felt to see Theis bulldoze that kid.  That was when I knew for sure we would win that one.

I hear you have a couple of other movies worn out in certain spots too...

sjusection105,

I think St. Olaf has to hope for the "John Carroll effect", who lost to Mt. Union in a similar way the Oles did to SJU (70-0), yet still beat Ohio Northern by 25, which was the team who upset Mt. Union last week. Crazy! Even if St. Olaf pulls off the upset, I seriously wonder if the Oles would be given a Pool C bid given their humiliating loss to the Johnnies. Maybe they would have to beat Concordia convincingly. At any rate, I don't think it matters.

A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

OAS, how could you miss the Johnnie game yesterday??? You would have felt so at home. It was as if the Johnnies were playing MAC. JUST KIDDING, OLES!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D I actually had two Ole grads sitting next to me during the game. They had to leave at the end of the third quarter; just couldn't take it anymore. The sheriff and his son loved the experience.

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the Stiftungsfestivities, especially the Johnnie alum who traveled 1200 miles just to taste the world famous burger. Always great to see the Bus Driver and the five future Bennies of Mr. and Mrs. Dusty.

We will be hosting a huge Stiftungsfestivities at Tommieland on November 12. Hopefully the weather will be as great as it was yesterday.

Foss: I agree the Oles have to "hope" but hoping & doing are two different things. Meidt has moved things along nicely in his 4 years at STO, but they are not a "top tier" team in the MIAC let alone on the national scene. Who knows how much longer the Flordia pipeline will hold up. He needs to get the top tier Minnesota, western Wisconsin & northern Iowa kids to move on to the next step. Gearman made DB #1,Hutchins (from FLA) and #18 Williams (from FLA)  and #6 Dean (from MN) look foolish all day long. The much talked about WR #2 Gant made one nice catch all day, that was a no catch, because he could not get his feet down in the end zone. For all the talk of the Ole speed in the skill positions from the Flordia boys, I didn't see it. The central Minnesota boys came out shining in this one. I feel the Cobbers are licking their chops for Saturday 11-5-05!
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Hopefully we will get another shot at you in the playoffs.  We have to beat Concordia and Augsburg convincingly.

OleFan - I'm sure a convincing win against the Auggies will really impress the committee. ;)  And as far as a convincing win against the Cobbers, get real. They took the Johnnies to the wire, what will the Oles do so differently, that they even have a chance.

I think we need a poll question as to how many total penalty yards there will be in the Ole- Auggie game. Is it a cage match? ;D

Since B. Elliott was deprived of a TD catch in the 2003 Stagg by incompetent officials not seeing that he got not one, but two feet in the back of the endzone, the final score should have been 28 - 6. Would that have been a CHIMP9ionship Stomp?

Collegeville Magic

Congrats to the Johnnies on the Monkey Stompathon yesterday.

It'll be fun to watch the Js pound the Cretins after the bye week.  I'd love to see a close game at Moorhead next weekend, but I (nothing new here, juding from the rest of the board) expect the Cobs to win pretty easily.  The Oles showed no ability to sustain a drive (more than once) on a real defense, and Cord's D isn't far behind the Js.

Go Johnnies!

OleFan

The Olaf Defense sets up nicely against Concordia, but we remember what they did last year.  Deaner told me that the biggest problem they had last year was getting out of position by over playing.  It will be interesting to see what happens this year.  This was a game that Olaf will learn from and grow.  This is a new week.  They do have a chance whether or not SJU fans are willing to admit it.

Olaf needs to get the penalties down.  I have been telling players and coaches that all season.  The penalties are just killing us.

You mean #9 pass defense against #9 pass offense?

If you say so

I'd say your inability to shut down the deep pass is killing you even more!

It seemed to me that a lot of the penalties were late frustration penalties when the game was out of hand. Only 5 of the 10 were in the 1st half.

1 False start in the middle of Olaf's FG drive, a pass interference on an SJU drive that ended in a punt, illegal motion(early in the drive) and an intentional Delay of game (more room to punt) on Olaf's drive following the 1st SJU TD, and holding following SJU's 2nd TD that made a 1st and 17 hole Olaf couldn't climb out of.

Only one penalty when the game was within reach actually stopped a drive, however 3 long TD passes killed Olaf.

I'm sure they need a fan to come tell them to get the penalties down. I think I'm gonna go tell Gags that we need to score more :P

Addendum:

The other Olaf Penalties were as follows:

Illegal forward pass when down 42-3
Pass interference when down 42-3...SJU scored the next play
Holding when down 49-3
Personal foul when down 56-3
Personal foul when down 63-9

I personally was at the SJU vs. Concordia and i felt that Concordia's defense was very strong in that game. Now although STO and Concordia isn't nearly as big a game as SJU vs. Concordia i think that the Cobbers will clamp down on STO. The Cobbers held SJU on four and short twice and at the start of the second half when SJU had the ball on the Cobber 9 and was looking to score.I think that STO would be lucky to score more than 10 points again this coming saturday. If i had to guess i would say Cobbers in a monkeystomp if not a double monkeystomp. I dont think that STO will have any air left in their balloons after the SJU game. So..... I predict Cobbers in  a monkeystomp..
