Now I am kind of upset that I will miss next weekend's game :'(  Anyone know how Sprint's cell coverage is in the Itasca area?

You'll be better off with smoke signals, Duff. Depends on where you are, but at the park last year, I had no signal.

A little late with the congratulations but all the same great job.

Always remember it's lonely at the top and try to remember us little guys.

KUTGW!
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

What a game in Cobberland yesterday! The last three meetings between the Johnnies and the Cobbers have been some of the most gut-wrenching football I have ever seen. Very impressed with the Johnnie D yesterday. They were on the field sooooooooooooooo much yesterday. I really thought we were toast going into the fourth quarter. One can never count those Johnnies out. Just ask the Cobbers. ;)

Cobbernation and Maroon & Gold, great to meet you guys. Thanks for suggesting the pregame gathering at Mick's Office. Great wateringhole for the Cobbers (and MSU). At church this morning I had to rub in the Johnnie win with two of my fellow church-goers who happen to be Cobbers (yes, there are Cobbers who are Catholic). I mentioned Mick's Office and the husband responded, "I spent most of my junior year there." I hope you can make it down to one of the Stiftungsfestivities this season. At least now you know how to pronounce the word. ;D

And just like last year, a tip of the hat to the Cobber fans. Your fans are always very nice after close games like yesterday. I also enjoy very much walking around the Cobber campus. Class all around.

Back to Collegeville this week for Homecoming. In terms of the attendees for the Stiftungsfestivities "We Love Elected Officials," I believe we may have Peter Hutchinson, the independent candidate for Governor, in attendance. I know Congressman Mark Kennedy will be on campus. Hopefully he will show up for the tailgate party. Thumbs down for Sen. Michelle Bachmann and Governor Pawlenty. I can only assume the latter is providing comfort and support for his spouse, a Bethel grad, today after yesterday's loss by her alma mater to Carleton.

We will be starting the tailgate party at 9:00 a.m. in the parking lot behind the library and above the scoreboard end of the football field. Bring a culinary delight to share. Carleton fans are cordially invited to join us.

BDB, tough game for Stout yesterday. Had a nice time in Longville Friday night. They were celebrating Octoberfest in the firehall. I'm thinking maybe we should have an Octoberfest theme for the Stiftungsfestivities tailgate on October 21 when the Pipers come to town. I'm sure polka music would go well with the Paris Hilton cd.

Hey,
Is it true that a Offensive Tackle threw the winning touchdown @ the BU/Carlton game?  I just got home from church with my grandson and his mother and a BU parent told me that was the case.  I looked up the stat's and couldn't find the # of the kid that threw 1 pass for 58 yards????

I see BU's "D" played well again yesterday!  Other than that long pass and the fumble on the 10 yard line, Carlton doesn't look like they had anything on Offense.  Carlton must have a pretty good defense to stop BU's running game!!??  Wasn't there, was it raining as bad as it was here in the cities??

CC/SJU game, I see CC ran the ball well vs. SJU and CC stopped SJU's running game??  Keep me in touch!

Oh, I want to say "sorry" for my comments about scout players last week, I was out of line! Sorry!

Willy Wonka, this is not sour grapes from a BU father. This is sour grapes as a BU fan.  And when you classless guys like TDT post about Steve Johnston as a coach, he will be a punk in my book.  This guy took Bethel from a nobody, and turned it into a pretty respectable football school, or you johnnies wouldn't have such a hatred for them.  TDT you really think Steve Johnson is a bad coach?  And everything I said last night I meant.  When you say things against a head coach, you are going down as a punk.  He didn't play, his players did, and I find TDT the most classless of the SJU posters.  Why dont you talk about next week TDT, we are all tired of hearing about Johnnie lore...

Scrubby41

Royal,
Were you at yesterday's game??  How good or bad was it??

Oh yeah. The Devils keep the Pirates from any scoring until 3 seconds left in the game. They toss a TD and it's 7-7 going in to OT.

No scoring in the first OT. In the second OT Stout scores a TD but misses the extra point.

Whitworth scores a TD on 4th down, makes their extra point, game over.  :P

Thanks to raiderguy for coming over for the game. We had a great time.  :)

When you say things against a head coach, you are going down as a punk.

So it is okay to say things about the players on other teams (i.e. Kofoed), but it is not okay to say things about coaches? Good to know! I will try to keep that straight when I am making my classless Johnnie fan posts! ;) :P

So I told my sister (yet another Bennie that just doesn't get it!!!) that Carleton beat Bethel! She thinks that it is a sign of the Apocalypse. And she doesn't even follow MIAC football! :D I then explained to her that the Knights are coached by a Johnnie and it all made sense! I noticed that one of the assistant coaches for the Knights is Mick Ramboldt, another former SJU football player!! Ramboldts and Ramlers...they all played when I was in school! ;D

CCKnight

The best part of the weekend was being able to watch the shocked look on the faces of the Bethel fans as their Royals got beat.

Some thoughts on the game:
Bethel's defense is good, they had a lot of speed and were able to string out most runs to the outside.
Carleton's Defense (especially the D-Line) completely shut Porta down.  Bethel was trying to run up the middle on first down and got nothing, setting up a lot of 2nd & 3rd and longs.
Bethel once again had some questionable (arrogant) play calls, going for everything on 4th down, also wasted some time outs.
The winning touchdown for Carleton was on a double pass, the player that threw it was the OT (not sure if it was T eligable or if he was in as a TE) who was a TE before this year, and it was set up by a play earlier that was the same but he ran it instead of throwing it.
The 1 yd rushing was due to a ton of sacks, although the knights didn't get a lot of rushing yds.
Turnovers killed Bethel.

As for the talking on the field, get over it, a few years ago when I played, Bethel talked more sh*t than any other team in the league, and it's even less classy to talk sh*t when your beating a team by 40+.  I don't condone it, and never did it myself, but it happens in every game played.

So much for those votes for the top 25.

Go Knights

Scrubby,
#69 Matt Topeff? was the offensive tackle that threw the 53 yd TD pass.

Knights...
thanks for the update.  I thought this parent this a.m. was crazy when they told me a O tackle threw that pass, so it was, crazy!!  I see that BU had several sacks for 45 yards lost.  I'd say BU's run defense show up again and that the pressure was alot better than lastweek with 7 sacks!

Have you seen other Knights games this year and is the defense as good as they were yesterday or was BU really bad??  Does Carlton have a chance against SJU??

I'd like to criticize a coach but I see it's classless. So I will post this without comment:

B 4-2 B48 Scott Kirchoff pass incomplete to Jeff Lehn (Mike Zauhar).
