Johnnie Red

Johnnie Esq., so what is the story about the Dutch letters, the Oles and the so called political connections? I love Dutch letters.

And where do I get to travel to this Saturday for the state high school cross country championships? St. Olaf. Trust me, I will be wearing plenty of red courtesy of the MSHSL.

Time to head home to get ready for the Halloween hordes looking for candy and treats.

This sums up the weekend pretty well, I think:

JR,

I don't really think it's appropriate for a County elected official to refer to anyone in his constituency by that degrading term!

Happy 1600 to me ;D

ritz72,

Have you seen the UST defense play?  Probably not much, if at all.  I have for 7 games, and they aren't as bad as your red colored glasses, or more correctly blood shot eyes, might think.  I recall that SJU thought they would roll easily the last time they played in St Paul (2003).  It didn't happen and except for a fumble by UST you were looking at overtime.  SJU was lucky to get out of town with the win against a team they were obvioulsy much better than on paper.  So I expect all you young SJU supporters to be talking how your team will double monkey stomp and all that crap, since again SJU looks like the far superior team on paper, and and maybe they will,  but just maybe they won't.  2 weeks and counting.

Knights, you've come talking this crap for the past two years and you haven't beat us yet.  In fact, you haven't beaten us in a long, long time, and you're not going to start now.  Not all of us are "young Johnnie supporters," either.  At the most, it's half-and-half, but it's probably a greater majority of the SJU posters are not young punks like the Bus Driver.

WAHOO3

A good first quarter in Collegeville on Saturday! Then it all fell apart and I am sure that is well documented in the previous pages. Great game by the Johnnies! The Oles got outcoached and outplayed. I've seen Kofoed play probably 5 games and that is by far the best I have seen him play. I know we'll get a better performance out of the Oles this weekend. It can't get any worse. I just hope the players "flushed it" faster than us Alums and are looking forward to the Cobbs. I saw way too many Johnnie alums at work today.

From a old SJU fan. We kicked your butt most of the 1960's too. SJU - STU or as I remember CST had a coach I think the name was Nate Harlan.  Two of my fellow classmates and I interviewed with him and John at SJU. Nate was quite a guy - he told us how much hitting they had in practice and how rough they were leading the league in hits ( both clean and dirty).  All three of us went to SJU and played for John.  I have a number of friends that went to STU over the years but most of them have had little to say good about the football coaching staff. Maybe it is in the St. Paul water ;D. STU should be much better than they are. They get the players but I think the coachs in football let them down. They should be able to replicate the success of Track, Hockey and Basketball at STU.

Mongo,
Sorry to hear about your "tasing" incident!

Duff and ROR-  Thanks for sending the pics.  It's nice to see that not a moment of the day went unphotographed.  I almost forgot there was a game that day...then again, I think St. Olaf wanted to forget there was a game that day too.  It looks like I'll be at the SJU-UST tilt in 2 weeks.

And this week, I think I"m going to have to go with Schmidt's in the 30 pack...since it's on sale for 10.95...it's like Westside Liquor knew it was my bday on Thursday.

Duffman-Thanks for the pictures.
ROR-Thanks for the pictures.
Did the BUS shot gun a Hamm's? Or was competition too fierce? :D

A 6-year old girl would have been too harsh of competition for Bus Driver...therefore, he did not shotgun

Retired Old Rat

I've never met or spoken to Chris Meidt but have found all the back and forth about him on this board to be interesting.

I will say he was a class act after the game.  And extremely humble.

As I was walking around taking pictures on the field after the game I overheard him talking to a reporter about the game.

He said that if SJU plays like they did Saturday, there is no one at this level that can beat them.  When asked about Linfield he laughed and said something like "Linfield would do better than we did today, but would have been unable to beat SJU today. Linfield, Mount Union, Whitewater—anybody you want to name in D3 could not have beaten SJU today. They are simply that good."

I was impressed by what I head him say.

I hope he is right.   :)

Duffman,

Man, you are easily set off.  I hardly talk crap, just reminding you what happened 2 years ago maybe you need to re-read what I said in my earlier post.  I am quite aware that you have beaten us.  Your team has beaten everyone, we are well aware of that, and thank you for always reminding us. You keep believing and stating that Tommies suck, if that makes you happy.
