Tough to hit, field, pitch (or win a division titke) with your hands around your neck ...

DuffMan

DuffMan has returned from Itasca relatively unscathed (and un-engaged, Dusty ;)).

I managed to listen throughout the game (I could pick up 660 am in the park).  Tough to say from the radio, but the Carls sound pretty decent.  How did people there feel about Crees.  It sounded from the radio that he threw the ball pretty well.

I'll be in Northfield next week.  Where's the pregame?

ROR, thanks for the picks.

I'm no expert (I know that goes without saying), but I thought Carleton looked like a solid football team.

They've got some kids who can play on both sides of the ball.  Quarterback has a good arm and finds the open recievers.  Spreads the ball around nicely.  81, WR, scares me.   Coaching appeared solid, good scheme on both sides of the line.

At the beginning of the game with the 100% shot gun and lots of pitch outs I thought we'd see the ball on the carpet a lot and that would lead to a Monkey Stomp.  I wonder how well that will work on a wet/cold day?

I would NOT be surprised to see Carlton win the rest of their MIAC games.  I don't think they were intimidated by St. John's and this has got to be a big confidence booster for them.

SJU better improve the pass defense or trouble is ahead.

Well obviously Bennie...

What happened with the wasps earlier?  Go figure but the internet feed was out during that scene...

This kicking game is horrible.  Has been all season.  I wanna know if they are blocking these kicks or we are simply missing them.  Seriously, it will not fly in the playoffs (notice I didn't say playing Bethel).

Tmerton owns Willy Wonka...

Just spoke with KR, he was half in the bag,  he said I should post this statement for Post patterns: The transitive properties of geometry do NOT work for football scores (see Auggie/Cobbs and Cobb/Johnnies score).  Busch: he was talking to Krazy Karl...

Half in the bag? Me thinks you underestimate me  ;D

That was a great quote though!

Just for Fins:

What is a girl that hot doing in a pic with those idiots?

GO TWINS!!!!!!!! YOUR 2006 AL Central Division Champions!

Yes, MR for the first time in my life, I yelled "Go Royals" at the top of my lungs. MrsKR promptly realized that Bethel is the Royals and suggested I change it to Go KC, which I did  ;D Smart girl, no clue how the heck she ended up getting stuck with my last name!

SJU game thoughts:
Carleton is good damn good. They are solid on Defense and their offense has some big WR's who make great targets and have good hands. Ramler deserves MIAC Coach of the Year for the turn-around he has made.

SJU looked somewhat sloppy at times especially in the 4th. Crees is a very solid QB, he ould probably start most places in the MIAC that aren't called St John's. He throws a good ball, isn't as mobile as Kofoed but as good and maybe a bit better on decision making.

Ditto what was said about SJU needing to pick up their play to go far this year. We made too many mistakes and our kicking game still sucks. We have to correct both to make a playoff run.

Great atmosphere, thanks to Veek and Fins for the beers and JR for the great tailgate as usual.

Tailgate observation:
There was so much democratic party propoganda I felt like I was at Wellstone's memorial! :o
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Looks like I missed a great day in Collegeville for a not so inspiring event in Eau Claire.

ROR- Don't worry, you'll remember next time, .........unless you sleep between now and then. This getting old is a bunch of crap. Wait till you catch up to me.

And cathcing up I am....

Did you see UWW versus UWEC?  Were they as dominating as the score indicates?

Saw 3 quarters of it. It was sad, EC couldn't pee a drop. It was total domination. EC was picked to win 2 or 3 games in conf. this year. I really doubt they win more than one.

Missed seeing Raider Guy at the game, which sucked.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

KR, trust me, I did my best in trying to get a few Republicans to the Stiftungsfestivities on Saturday. Always thumbs down from Governor Pawlenty. It was so nice to have Governor Carlson come to a few Johnnie games, even if they were at Bethel (John's 300th victory) and St. Thomas. It would have been so nice to have Michelle Bachmann present and watch her and Fins get into it. >:(

Duffman, you could always set up a pregame event at one of the wateringholes in Northfield. My godmother/aunt has her 95th birthday this Saturday in Minneapolis so I won't be arriving at St. Olaf until around 1:00 p.m. Another option would be Dundas. Some nice bars there.

What a crazy weekend! Watching the Twins yesterday and everything that went on during and after the game was wild.

And then I get on here to see that some idiot in the WIAC logged on as BlueDevil Bob and Pat changed his name to bluedevil robert.  :P

Get your own damn name.

» Junior Sean Mase, a scout team offensive player, was cited for underage consumption and providing false information to police officers while attending the Johnnies' game at Concordia last week in Moorhead. Mase was not a member of the travel team and was attending the game on his own. He has not appeared in a game this season and appeared in one game last year. When reached Thursday night, he confirmed the incident had taken place and said he is no longer a member of the team. Johnnies offensive coordinator Jim Gagliardi would not comment on what disciplinary action was taken. But Mase said his locker has been cleaned out.

"I want to apologize to the St. John's community for my actions and I wish the football team all the best," Mase said.

Why was this even written about?  A scout player screws up and it gets an entire paragraph plus a quote in a newspaper?  I could understand if it would have been Kofoed or someone like that, but it was an unheard of player.  Yeah, the kid screwed up, but if it wasn't for that, no one would have ever heard of him.

Several revelating thoughts from this past Saturday following the democratic political convention that broke out on the holy site first established by our God Father....

1.)  I've never seen Finsleft and ROR so giddy.... both thought I would be escorting Ms. Klobachar across campus however her husband didn't provide the necessary motivation or interest.  Sir, may I have another!  (no emails to underage Johnnie fans from me...)

2.)  The Johnnies have finally found a "return man" in #4, CB Mike Burtzel.. we all love the Diop kid however Burtzel showed the type of crazy legs and fast feet made famous by Johnnie Alum B.E.  My thought is to convert Diop and play him opposite of Steffensmeier and have two blitzing ends with McNamara taking the inside rush... nightmare for the Oles....

3.)  Like him or not Alex is the glue to the entire team.... without him guiding the offense the whole opperation is out of sync.... huge difference between the number 1 and number 2 players here...  I infact like the Hensel kid out of SC Tech as my number 2.

4.)  Play Crees as long as possible against Ole.. put all the pressure on the Johnnie offensive line... make the running game win the game and let Alex's thumb rest!

5.)  Best Homecoming in the MIAC happens every year in Collegeville... second largest recorded crowd, 11,000+!

Dusty, The radio announcers made it sound like Crees was hanging on to the ball too long on pass plays! Did he have "happy" feet in the pocket or what?

The little that he played it sounded like Hensel did look good.

Do you know if Kofoed is out for sure this Saturday?
