Fins-two undefeated teams and didn't SJU lose down at the Oles house two years ago? I would make the line Oles -1 and move it or down depending on the status of Kofoed. :)

Very sad news, if you haven't heard:

La Crosse Student's Body Found

My thoughts and prayers go out to Lucas' family.

For those of you that haven't heard, there is a kid missing from Grinnell college (IIAC) who has been missing since last Monday.

Ever since Josh's disappearance 11-9-02 I have an unfortunate new found understanding and sympathy for the friends and families of those who have gone missing. Thanks again to all of you who have helped me through the times since that day especially the anniversaries.

My thoughts and prayers too!!! That is truly something that no family/parent/friend should have to go through. I was at CSB when Jacob Wetterling was taken. The impact on the community was tremendous. Whatever your politics are, I think that Patty and the Wetterling family have been through an experience that I can't even comprehend and have managed to come through it and do wonderful things (the Foundation, sex offender registration act). I can only hope that other families that experience this kind of tragedy are able to get the love and support they need to allow them to carry on as well.

How is Mrs. MR doing? I certainly hope she is feeling better and that you are pampering her like crazy! ;D

Certainly the Oles are capable of beating SJU. They've proven that. They are talented and well coached. I don't think Kofoed's absence is as crucial as some, however. All I've seen out of him so far is potential. It is too bad that he hasn't been the QB all along to get some offensive rhythm going and to see if, in fact, he would be playing up to his potential by now. I think Crees waits too long (inexperience?) but he's getting better. The passes he made vs. the Carls weren't all that bad. And better performance by the O line would allow the QB, whomever it is, more time to pass and would allow us to get a running game going.

I don't know why I'm doing this but this just came in over the transom (okay, by email) ...

An ugly man walks into his local pub with a big grin on his face.

"What are you so happy about?" asks the barman.

"Well, I'll tell you," replies the ugly man. "You know, I live by the
railway. Well, on my way home last night, I noticed a young woman tied
to the tracks, like in the movies. I, of course, went and cut her
free.

"Scored big time! We made love all night, all over the house. We did
everything, me on top, sometimes her on top, every position
imaginable!"

"Fantastic!" exclaimed the barman. "You lucky guy. Was she pretty?"

"Dunno...Never found the head."

I just wanted to know what the SJU fans thought of the rest of the MIAC.  I only see bits and peices here.  I wanted to know if the MIAC was evening out or if losing the QB was a huge factor.  I did not mean to offend you at all.  As for the playoffs that is way to far away to even think about.  I don't know if the Dutch will make it.  Here in the IIAC to many teams left to play that will have a say in the outcome.  There are no gifts on the schedule.   One game at a time is the way it will have to be.  I just was curious as to the thoughts of yours.

I think there is a bit of parity in the MIAC this year.  This is not a "strong" SJU team by our standards, but has done well this year so far in conference and against the WIAC.  There are still the have's (SJU, Bethel, St. Olaf), the jury is not back yet's (Carleton, Concordia, UST), and the up-and-coming's (GAC, Hamline, and Augsburg).  But it's not the big 2 little 7 this year.

When any of the top 6 teams play well, they are national caliber, but they have each been inconsistent to some degree to the appoint where none of them (SJU included) should be considered head and shoulders above everyone else.

And better performance by the O line would allow the QB, whomever it is, more time to pass and would allow us to get a running game going.

I'm concerned the coaching staff even considered pulling Crees in favor of Hansel.  Nothing against Hansel, but you have to give your QB some time to adjust.  Crees came in for an emergency (Concordia) and now was cutting his teeth in front of 11k who'll criticize his every move.  Waiting too long is typical of a QB who's trying to adjust from the second team to the first team.

But pulling him for any reason other than injury is, in my opinion, not smart. Give him the chance-- unlike his other two companion QBs, Crees has led a team to a state final.  IMO, he may not have Kofoed like potential, but in his limited experience he hasn't done anything flat out stupid enough to warrant getting pulled.

johnnie-esq,

Listening to the radio broadcast it sounded like Crees took a hit and the coaching staff was concerned about a possible injury. I don't believe it was a performance issue.

I do agree JEsq. I think Crees has performed and should be the QB. My criticism, is a picky one. Given the circumstances, he and our team could've done much worse. All in all, I'm satisfied with how he's done.

Thanks for the info.  That's what I was wondering.  I think parity is coming to D-3 more and more.  The amount of good coaches is getting larger and the talent level in all sports is coming up.  At least that's what I see in the IIAC.  Thanks for the reply.

Interesting article in the Star Tribune about message boards -

http://www.startribune.com/142/story/716285.html

I like this quote from a local coach

"I never put much into it before because there's no credibility on those boards," he said."

I wonder if people think that about us?
To me, clowns aren't funny. In fact, they're kind of scary. I've wondered where this started and I think it goes back to the time I went to the circus, and a clown killed my dad.

Touchdown Tommy

Can we get back to the chatter of Hamm's, Twins, and babes?  All this football talk is making TDT's head spin.  Fins are you making the trip to Northfield?  I understand there are a few good spots for some pregame food and beer.  Oles could you help the Johnnies' fans out with this...

DuffMan

So, who is making the trip to Northfield this weekend?  The Wickster sent out an invite to pre- and post-game festivities.  Let me know if you haven't seen it.  Does anyone plan on doing this, or would a pre-game bar visit be more appropriate?  DuffMan might be flying solo right now (not sure how things will shape up), so PM me if you're interesting in car-pooling from the metro area, or if you just have a suggestion for a pre-game drink (I won't post your PM on the board for all to see because that is against the rules :D).
