From the UST site:  "The St. Thomas defense held Carleton to 86 yards and no points in the second half and held on for a 14-10 MIAC football victory at UST's O'Shaughnessy Stadium."

I am suprised by this.  Carlton must have had big let down after last week.

To be expected, in my view.  Plus I suspect the Tommies aren't so bad.  They've pretty much been in every game.

Pretty much about as well as it can be said.

Kinda like arguing with a brick wall or your mom/wife :o
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Quote"I think the only way SJU wins on Saturday is a 21-10/13 type game. If the score gets above that, I think the Johnnies are in trouble."

I said that Friday. That's why I'm called a great football mind. Oops.

I didn't make it to a MIAC game, but did catch the final minutes of the Gophs-Penn State game on TV. Gophs got jobbed on the pass inference call. Banks didn't interfere at all with the catch, which would've been two yards short of a first down anyways. I have to agreed with the old color guy, you don't throw flags late in games unless it is blatant. There was more contact on the Gophs TD in OT, but my guy, field judge Mike Cannon from Hutchinson, let them play. His counterpart didn't.

Looks like I gotta a phone call to make on Monday.

Nice to see Johnnie Red, One Armed Scot, Duffman & My Yak today at Oleland.

A couple of observations. The Johnnie pass defense needs help. There has been some shuffling at LB with 2 Freshmen starting today, will the secondary get a make over next?

The Johnnine running game needs some help. Sometimes it's there other times it is vacant......

Sitting a couple of rows behind the Ole def. bench was interesting today. After the first two SJU scoring drives the coaches kept telling the Oles "They can't hang with you- just keep coming at them" The body language of the players told a different story. After Giesen ran virtually untouched into the end zone with his second TD (with a TE seam pattern that has been in the SJU playbook for years) The Def. Cord. for the Oles pretty much lost it. He pretty much told the boys they are wothless pieces of dog ****. I'm thinking that if the Cobbers get a couple of quick scores next week- open the flood gates. The Ole Def. have been mentally beaten down by their coaching staff. Way to go guys, you got to keep telling them they are worthless, that will get them to play for you!
***************************************************************Serious open question to any Ole with accurate knowledge.

I saw a sign at the concession stand that said "Tips are appreciated, room & board $38,500.00" This being said to get to the question at hand. With over 20 players on the roster from Flordia, do these kids get "need based scholarships"? If Sven Olsen or Lina Anderson from Anytown,Minnesota pay full boat do kids with an economic need and a special skill(football) get a reduced rate? Another way to ask would be if Lina Anderson is from New York Mills, MN and can sing like an angel, yet her parents make minimum wage at the lefsa factory would she get a "need based scholarship" to attend St. Olaf & sing in the choir? I used choir because I know they are world class.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

While I admit he has his faults, he also has a great football mind...

Great football mind = going for it on 4th and 1 on your own 30 in the second quarter?

Bigtime bonehead move.  Meidt shows the ego yet again and it bites him in the can.

On another non-football note, who y'all rootin' fer since the Twins got their fannys kicked by the A's.  Its great that the Tigers embarrassed the Mighty Yanks but now what?  A's vs. Tiggers, what do you think?  After hating the Tiggers all year I am finding it hard to root for them now but should I be for the team that knocked the Twins out?  Not sure.  This is one issue that I need to have a few Sam Adams over and think deeply.  Or not and I shouldn't even care this much. Anyway since its so quiet in here this evening I figured I'd throw something out there to discuss while we wait for the Ole faithful to come back with their explainations (I mean excuses)

Plus I suspect the Tommies aren't so bad.  They've pretty much been in every game.

Tommie defense has been very tough and held RJ Jackson, along with the rest of the Carleton offense, in check most of the day.  Tommie offense had three red zone opptys. and did not score so the score could have been more one-sided.  I do think Carleton will be a force in the MIAC in the coming years, though.

PJ Thiesen missed another game for the Toms and he is a valuable weapon in the red zone so that might explain UST's futility.

Nice win for UST

Knights, looks like your son is healthy.  4 tackles today!

SJU pass defense - needs help.
SJU run defense - good at times, although Meidt's runnign game is BORING!
SJU pass offense - looked good today.  Kofoed had a good game, although his throws and release looked slow
SJU run offense - great at times, non-existent at others.

Olaf - They remind me a lot of Bethel in the early 2000s.  That has got to come from your leader.  Meidt puts up and encourages cheapness.  What can you expect from your players when you're getting PFs yourself?  And I would not play for that coaching staff.  Like 105 mentioned, the way they berate their players made me extremely glad that I played for the wonderful staff I did.

Good to see those at the game that I did.  Catch ya later.

Went to gopher game today, who can tell me about SJU/STO game and BU/GUST game??

Reading the stats at the SJU site, STO had no running game, just what I thought and had to depend on the passing game, which they did have some success.  Good to see that SJU QB played and played well from the stats.

BU/Gust game:  BU plays big again  Gustavus 88 total yards for the day!!  I remember writing several weeks ago that BU had a very good "D" and several people said I was nuts!!  They have played 6 games now and have given up less than 30 yards a game rushing--that's pretty good "D" isn't it??

Anyway, I'm sure someone that was at the games could give me some info.

Oh, for the post that ragged on me about my writing or lack of writing skills, I'm 62 years old, didn't even know how to turn a computer on until I came here to the twin cities and my grandson showed me.  I type with one finger, which takes me at least 10 minutes to type or write anything here, and yes, my grammer and my english skills are very low!  I forgot who was busting my balls on my lack of ability to write a good or bad sentence and if I should or should not use !! points.  But who ever it was, my point about the "fact" that STO has not running game, I was correct about that.  All you could respond with was my lack of ability to write a complete sentence.  Well I do know this, I might not be able to write or read that well for that matter, but I do know a few things about what this site is really about......not sure I can say that about everyone.  Otherwise, you'd keep to the subject matter (football) and not bust each others balls so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, that first PF appears to have dug SJU out of a hole and initiated the 2nd scoring drive. If my count's correct, STO "leads" SJU 5-0 in PFs the last two games ...
