KR we will work it out.  I might make you watch me drink a case of my finest here in DSM. One by one as I take you play by play.....  By the way, how about a prediction, not that I would remind you of it later... come on TDT, OldRat, SJU, give it to me........... is their a monkey in there?

I don't expect a monkey stomp.  Although it would not disappoint me. ;D

I need to run all the variables through my complex and sophisticated computer model.
It takes 3 days to run it is so complex.  I'll get back to you with the result.

In the process, why don't you do us all a favor... while you and Jethro put all the information into your mega abicus, lets remember who predicted BU at 5-5. The most handsome man in America, one mister TDT.  Can we shred this guy now, or does Pat have to do it for us....

BUdefense

Quotedid you notice that BU only rushed 3, maybe sometimes 4 rushers on passing downs.  Every game I've seen this year they pressure teams.  Can anyone close to the program give some INSIGHT?

The most likely answer is that Bethel, knowing they have an excellent front 7, decided they can probly get away with leaving the d-line and maybe Carr of the edge to put pressure on the QB. While they have good defensive backs, they have sometimes had problems with the Ole recievers when they are put on an island, which is why you probly saw less blitzing from the safety positions, something that is often a staple of Bethel's defense. I dont blame Jimmy miller, I'll take the the Bethel D-line and Kirby carr against an offensive line any day of the week.

At this point, my Johnnie-colored glasses give me a vision of SJU 28 BU 14. No monkey, but a solid win with Bethel scoring a late TD to prevent the monkey since we all know Steve Johnson reads the board and he would hate to read 15 pages of posts about Bethel getting Monkey stomped.

Warning: I will probably get a lot cockier as the real game approaches ;D

Kilted;  I've finally hit my stride after having just listened to the Monmouth '05 archived game.  I know, I'm sick... take my temperature? It's that time of year.

You are indeed one sick man, I believe the remedy is a lifetime of a house full of estrogen, so you are on the path to healing.
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

TDT - Unfortunately I will not be able to attend next Saturday's events due to family commitments but I will make sure that I am within earshot of a radio.

ROR - I hope that you are feeling better each day and that your pain is diminishing.  You need to be in peak physical condition for playoff shotgunning contests.
Go Johnnies!!!

1) I do think Coach J reads these boards

2) I disagree with the term "Monkey Stomp" when looking at the SJU/BU series. Obviously 2004 (37-0) was beyond that (does "Gorilla Rape" ever get coined on this board?), but last year, despite the 30-9 score, was not a MS. Now, I'm not one of those Bethel people who are gonna make excuses for a loss.

Instead (as usual), I'm just going to flat out blame the offense.

SJU scored 4 touchdowns that game, starting those drives on:
1st-  the Bethel 4
2nd- the Bethel 29
3rd- SJU's 47
4th- BU's 44

the first came as a result of a blocked punt, which was a result of the BU offense not working for better field position. The second, third, and fourth came from two fumbles and an interception, respectively.

Now, I'm not saying that Bethel should have won. That was BU's motto last year, woulda-shoulda-coulda. But any time you hang the defense out to dry that many times in one game, eventually they are gonna break. SJU had no drives of longer than 53 yards, and SJU had 76 offensive plays compared to Bethel's 58. I was on the sidelines when our defense would get off the field, and they wouldnt be on the bench for more than 1 minute before the offense would re-insert it's head in it's ass and turn it over again, exhausting the D.

Dusty-- I was a latecomer to the festivities on Saturday, though I will be there early this Saturday to ensure we have some good spots in the UST parking lot...

My thoughts on Saturday-- I echo Duff's concerns about Kofoed.  He did not look at all accurate and was throwing the ball behind receivers, overthrowing them, and just not getting the ball to the open receivers.  He is not at all convincing on the option at all-- you know he's going to pitch it-- and when he does, it is usually high and not in stride for the RB.  We can't afford to give him a full half each week to wake up.  Crees comes into the game and throws one pass-- a 38 yard TD to Gearman-- and then they bench him so Hansel can throw the ball behind receivers.  I know the SJU coaching staff likes those Stearns County players, but this seems to be a pretty clear double standard.

Gunderson is an animal.  He's really good and getting better.

#1 concern for me:  on obvious running downs, the SJU offensive line cannot get a good push.  Against Hamline even.  You can imagine that the Tommies and Royals will better be able to stop such a down.  That is a required fix, especially considering that Bethel and UST are numbers 1 and 2 respectively in the conference in pass defense.  That means our running game needs to take some pressure off of the passing game.

Congrats to Porta on his record.  In many ways, looking at he and Barkley and Johnson, it is more a testament for his longevity and ability to stay healthy while being hit 30x per game.  He is a good back and certainly deserving of that record.

Last, from Shooter yesterday:  ) College football's all-time mostwinning coach, John Gagliardi of St. John's in Collegeville, Minn., which is 8-0 after Saturday's victory over Hamline, asked how he keeps on winning: "I wish I knew what I was doing so I could do it right."

Kilted;  My doctor just recommended listening to the archived Whitewater game however it's unavailable.  I'll have to suffer with the Northwestern College archive to sustain til Saturday.

As for estrogen.. I've sold it and now I'm surrounded by it.

Developing....

PS Johnnie Esq;  I do not share your pessimism however I will share a beverage with you come Saturday.

Hey Johnnie Esquire and Duff...did you guys get tanked at halftime and miss the pinpoint long throws to Gearman?  His bootleg TD pass to Geisen on 4th down in the first half?  In listening to the broadcast and watching the game I think he only had one bad throw on a bubble screen to Lofboom.  I don't know which Johnnies legendary QB you are comparing him to, but I think he holds up well against most.

As for Crees only playing a little bit...keep in mind he was in on two drives, one play each his TD pass to Gearman and a solid run by Blackmore I think after a good punt return...and Hansel is the future of the position after Alex leaves.

Jimmy G on the postgame show said they wanted to get Crees more time but he had short drives and they wanted to play as many guys as they could

One bad throw?  In the first quarter he was 3 for 7 for 25 yards and 1 INT.  Those"pinpoint" passes to Gearman were there all game but he certainly didn't have the touch to do it early on.  He missed guys across the middle and had happy feet, even with adequate time to throw the ball.  I distinctly remember Mayew, Seiler, Ramler, Linneman et al., and I wouldn't put Kofoed's passing ability up against any of them.

I thought he should have taken it himself on that boot.  Why risk a pass on 4th and 1 when they are giving him that one yard, so I didn't think it was all that smart.  I also didn't like that we took a timeout with 11 seconds left before that play.  Everyone knew it should be the last play of the half, why call it with 11 seconds left?  We had to kick off then!

Crees throws the best ball on the team, bar none.  He may not have the speed that Hansel does (give Hansel credit-- he took the ball on the option, faked a pitch, and turned upfield-- haven't seen Kofoed do that much this year).  But Hansel was 2 of 6 in his short stint, and he was pretty inaccurate.

The thing is when you look at the overall picture and that would be 8-0 with the inside track to the MIAC title and a postseason berth...the season is going well.   I see a 35-14 win over the Tommies and then a 31-14 win over Bethel followed by a number two seed in the West
