I think a lot of us Johnnies will get a kick out of our team beating a team led by a guy we voted for Heisman.   :D

" THE CATDOME -Where great teams come to die"

No need to be so hard you your own players, Harbor Cat.  They'll have enough pressure knowing that Linfield has never beaten the Johnnies at the Cat Dome (or anywhere else), much less the pressure they'll feel knowing their supporters think they are coming to die there.

Maybe you should change the slogan to " THE CATDOME - Where Linfield can beat anyone but those damn red wearing Johnnies, but we still love them anyway"

Isn't the red-headed step child my comment that I posted a week ago in reference to someone smiting me?  Give credit where credit is due :) :) :)

Prediction:  BU gets a playoff bid and brings the stagg bowl trophy to Arden Hills!  Go Royals!

MR,
Please... I've been using the term redheaded stepchild since high school. You just used what was already known to many.

Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

KR, I don't get what you mean.  Whitworth would be moved up a few seeds to avoid an inter-conference matchup with LC in the first round with the hope of a second-round no-flight for the NCAA. So 1 plays 8, 2 plays 7 etc.; then 4-5 winner gets 1-8 winner in round 2.

I got Cedar Rapids IA as 505 miles from Moorhead MN via road distance (Google Maps).  I think the NCAA fidgets the distance to avoid that one being a flight.  Monmouth IL is 476 mi. to Collegeville.  So the NCAA has two flights first round with the possibility of none in the second round.

Unless it has changed, the NCAA won't actually change seeds, they just change matchups.  That can be meaningful for who hosts in later rounds and also helps us make sense of the brackets a little more.  For example, if two high seeds meet in the first round, we can just say, oh yea, $$$$$$$ again.

Festivities start at Mexican Village for my free meal.  After that we head to Westside Liquors in Waite Park for their Taste Testing Celebration, to be folowed by heavy Schmidt's Light drinking at Mongo and I's place and then downtown.  All are welcome to join in Day 2 of my 5 day Birthday Extravabration. (It's so huge that I had to combine Extravaganza and Celebration for those that couldn't figure it out...Bus Driver ;D)

You're absolutely right, we did not make the playoffs last year. However, since you joined DIII, that's been our only playoff miss. What's your total? ;)
Nice day, huh?

AJ, you're right on. The language in the handbook is pretty pointed against terming it as seeding:
"Once selected, teams will be grouped in clusters according to natural geographic proximity. Teams will then be paired according to geographic proximity. A team may be moved to numerically balance the bracket, if geographic proximity is maintained.
Teams should be paired and eligible sites should be selected according to geographic proximity (within 500 miles).
• Teams may be seeded on a regional basis using the regional selection criteria.
However, geographic proximity takes precedence over seeding. [esq: my bolding]
• Teams from the same conference do not have to play one another in the first round, as long as geographic proximity is maintained.
• The highest-seeded team that meets all selection criteria will be selected as the host institution, provided geographic proximity is maintained."

99 - NWC champ beats SJU (NWC champ then wins Stagg)
2000 - SJU beats NWC champ(?) in 2nd round (SJU runner -up)
2001 - SJU beats NWC champ for region title
2002 - SJU beats NWC champ for region title
2003 - SJU beats NWC champ for region title (SJU wins Stagg)
2004 - SJU bows to your superiority (NWC champ wins Stagg)

If you follow the pattern, I'm sure you'll see SJU is in for 4 more West Region titles before the NWC is due again :P

A tradition unrivaled...
MIAC Champions: '32, '35, '36, '38, '53, '62, '63, '65, '71, '74, '75, '76, '77, '79, '82, '85, '89, '91, '93, '94, '95, '96, '98, '99, '01, '02, '03, '05, '06, '08, '09, '14, '18, '19, '21, '22, '24
National Champions: '63, '65, '76, '03

Mr.Shoes

I like that pattern, DuffMan. I look forward to continuing it this year. Phone it in, "SJU beats NWC champ for region title".

dc1- did you read the sentence after the bolding?

If your predictions ring true, the NCAA still pays for one flight for sure in the first round (b/c someone has to go to Oxy) and then for sure one flight in the second round (b/c someone has to go to McMinnville), with the possibility of more, b/c Monmouth and Central (515 mi) are outside the 500 miles to Concordia.   So there is really no savings either way between yours and mine.

However, in my scenario, there are no intra-conference rematches in the first round.
