What is the Johnnie posters take on the bye week? Does it help or hurt them.  And how does this change their practice routine?

We all know that it won't affect the outcome of the game.  But it doesn't help Bethel's chances...

Game of the Week in Div. 3 FB: Whitworth at Linfield for the NWC title.

ROR:  Keep a close eye on your daughters at the T-puppies home opener tomorrow night.  I have good intelligence that there may be a predator under the alias "Willy Wonka" in the building.  Look for him just below your seats and to the right behind the basket wearing a Ron Artest jersey.

Where is the Godfather?  He sure has been mighty quiet lately.  Must be in full party preparation mode for the bash on the 10th.  No other opponents til the lovely Bethel JR.  Feel free to share your thoughts on them and their institution...  8)  8)

Can't imagine it'll affect them too much.  I would bet they'll be plenty fired up due to what's riding on this game.  Will you be coming up, RA?

I think the week off will help heal some of the small, nagging injuries.  Like Kofoed's thumb.

I made the game in 03 and I would hope to make this one with my family.  I think its going to be a great football game.  One question for you guys, who does SJU see as their biggest rival?

Interesting stats,  SJU/StOlaf stats and BU/St. Olaf stats look pretty similar.  Score, total yards of offense, BU rushed well against Olaf, Olaf passed well against BU, Linebackers seemed to have a little more success for BU against Olaf, Red Zone scores all about the same across the board. SJU/Olaf Both passed well against eachother, neither ran well against eachother, Steffensmeier had a touch day(possibly hurt), Sto has 2 sacks  BU/SJU each one sack, but SJU seemed to play St. Thomas tougher than Bethel.  Total offensive yard about the same for BU and SJU against the Tommies, But BUs yards on the ground and SJUs through the air.  SJU fumbles 3 times and wins, SJU has 9 sacks vs Tommies 1, and BU had 2 sacks against the tommies and BU fumbled 3 times.  I think the nod going in has to go to the Johnnie recievers.  At the Olaf game vs BU, the Oles dropped 2 deep almost in the endzone on strikes from Penz, I think both on Gant, that could have sealed the deal.  Wetzell looks good but has a totally different running style than Kirchoff.  No jukes, just right at you, but not as good through the air at least vs the stats.  Porta is Porta. Given the way these two teams have matched up with the team they both have beaten, it looks like a great day for all of us.  I will never forget 03 even though losing sucked, it was one of the coolest games I have ever seen.  I hope this one plays as well.

I'm not being anywhere close to critical of the esteemed Johnnies performance.  I'm only wondering if Gags is "coach" in title only

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the players call him 'John' not 'coach'.

Here ya go, TDT.

How perfect would that have been at the UST/SJU game? Don't try to tell me you aren't jealous.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Yes, those two girls would have been PERFECT.  ::)  How much did you pay them to pose with you?

OK

To start off, I am a MAC poster in the East that frequents the Liberty League as well.  I periodically come over here as this board is very enjoyable as well.

I do have one question.  I see frequent references to Hamms.  I have a beer distributer near me : http://www.statelineliquors.com/  who's claim to fame is having over 1000 different beers on premises.

Last time in the store I queried about Hamms to see if they had it.  The manager did not think it had been brewed in many years, however the owner, did mention that it still is, but now is a low quality beer, (Like a schlitz)....

My question here is:  Is the Hamms reference an inside joke, or is this a beer that you drink and actually enjoy.

Also is this available anywhere on the east coast?

comments appreciated...

bman-
Finally a subject I know something about. You tell Mr. Stateline and Mr. Owner to brush up on their beer knowledge. They sound like beer snobs to me. Probably put fruit in the beer they drink. Hamm's is a quality beer that I both drink and enjoy. In fact, the more I drink, the more I enjoy. 8)
You should try it, though I don't recall ever seeing it in MD. There was a bar in Georgetown that used to carry it. You see, like the rest of the universe, Hamm's is owned by Miller Brewing, which creates its own internal conflict by owning some labels but wanting to promote MGD, Miller and Miller Lite until the world has 2 choices:Bud or Miller. :P

Surprisingly enough they are very down to earth guys...If you saw where the store is, and you knew how they built that business, they are anything but snobs...Statistically, the odds of knowing every beer out there (especially if it is not available on your coast) is tough. ..try getting a Fat Tire out here.... The fact the they knew it at all, means they at least have some experience.

I was just inquiring if maybe there was a "bad beer" joke going on..such as the case with National Boehemian out here...

I will look around to see if it is sold anywhere else, although the chances are low...We have a local brand here called Yuengling (which we call "vitamin Y") which is our version of your Hamms....

sfury

I discovered Yuengling when I moved to the East Coast. Now a favorite, and much better than Hamms. But that could just be my newfound east coast bias talking.
