Pat,
I stand corrected. I guess you said that, at least at the time you wrote it, that RPI could be in the playoff mix ahead of the Cobbers.

I hear that the SJU loss in the playoffs will be brought to us and presented by Pepsi.

You're way off.  It would obviously be brought to you by Orville Redenbacher :P

A tradition unrivaled...

Can't be brought by Orville Redenbacher, they bring SJU scoring drives.

Probably Target, they bring field goals and half time.

What I find interesting about Cord's ranking in the NCAA regions is that they are fifth when PC made a considered argument that they are outside the 10 (based on the published criteria, etc, etc).

I wonder: What kind of mojo is the NCAA committee using to create its rankings?  It seems that they are giving much less weight to the QoW index than they are to the considered perception of actual team strength.  That seems odd in that the QoW was created (I would imagine) to create a more objective process for ranking.

Personally, I think indexes and formulaic ranking procedures are bullpucky anyway.  An informed and professional committee should be expected to make the best judgements, and on the margin someone has to make the call.  Formulas not only remove the arguments for bias and incompetence, but the also remove the influence of expertise and judgement.

On the balance, I think that is a poor tradeoff.  The committee's departure from what the published criteria would produce demonstrates their agreement with that position, in my opinion.

PS - And yes, I'm also against instant replay in baseball.

The Rat is stuck in 2002, when he was free and single.  KR --different year, different turf, different players,   and really none of that matters, cause your boys wont make it out of the second round.

Gig,
You're hoping that the J's don't make it out of round 2 because you are right....that was then & this is now. 2002 Dumo was only playing Special Teams as a Freshman & not yet unleashed into opposing backfields. That was Duffman's job :D
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Interesting side note:

Next Tuesday is the 2nd anniversary of Gag's record breaking 409th win and today we stand on the verge of the 409th page of MIAC blubber about Hamm's, Monkey Stomps, TDT, Rent-a-cops and other topics of great importance.

It's too bad CC seems like they'll get snubbed, even with a win vs Olaf-

I personally would like to see them get in-unfortunately, the QOW index doesn't really account for a strength of overall schedule.  As a compariosn-here are some other noteworthy rating systems based on mathematical computations:

The most interesting bit, of course, is that the BC Moore ratings is obviously the most objective and accurate rating or ranking on the planet.

Kilter Rat et al.... we are now here at 409 & it feels great. A couple of questions since the Johnnies have no game this week.

1. Marcia or Jan?
2. Ginger or Mary Ann?
3. Wilma or Betty?
4. LaVerne or Shirley?
5. Natalie on Facts of Life or TDT?

On another topic, has anyone else noted the smite bug season has been long & pesty this year. With the colder overnight temp. they should have all died by now!

Meidt reveals the REAL reason STO lost at SJU:

``Against Concordia, Meidt thinks his team matches up well. And though players won't be hosting a haunted house for the community the day before like during St. John's week, there will be a five-hour Friday bus ride that ends just across the Red River from Fargo, N.D.''

Haunted houses, bus rides ... man, it's tough to be an Ole.
