Congrats to all the Bethel players and fans.  I remember lamenting last season when the schedule came out that we would have to go to Collegeville for the third time in my four years of college and close out the regular season.  I was talking to LB Steve Luebke about it at the time and he made the point that he couldn't think of any better way to end the season than beating St. Johns for the conference championship at the bowl.  He couldn't have been more dead on and even though I couldn't make it to the game it is great to feel the excitement around campus.

Also congratulations to SJU and all of their following.  I hope they do the MIAC proud and make a run through the playoffs.

I do feel like we got slighted by not getting a home playoff game but either way I'm very excited about the opportunity we now have.

Tmerton, the trunk monkey is seriously funny stuff.  I'm especially fond of the chaperon edition.  I might have to head out to Portalnd and acquire one of those.

I'm finished giving NWA my money for this year I think.  Without counting chickens prematurely, I'm hoping for an SJU-Oxy match in the second round.  A nice Southwest flight to Burbank would suit me just fine.  I'll then head to Trader Joe's (California's contribution to our culture - a health food liquor store) for the brie, white wine, sushi and Thai food we'll need for an authentic Southern California tailgate.  ;D

Love Trader Joes!! That would be one tasty tailgate! ;D Now I don't have a trunk monkey, but I did once offer to pick TDT up at the airport and give him a ride to Linfield! ;)

Wish I could go back and change my major. Watchmen, there's still time for you...

What makes you think you would have passed in that major?  8)

Not sure. But if they had 4 years to try to convince me I was just a woman with a penis...then I might.

Only four years?? ;D

I guess that would be the Starter Version.  ;D

Tmerton, Less than two weeks away from the huge showdown at the Coliseum. Are your boys from South Bend going to be ready? This one could have BCS implications!

I will be in C-Ville this weekend for the SJU BB lid lifter!

Enjoyed talking to your son last week.  He observed that you had fallen a bit short of making all the home games this year.  ;D  I'm sure you'll do a better job during b-ball season.  ;)

As for the Irish, I'm still skeptical.  It's Quinn's chance to get his own page in Irish lore, and he'll have to be the one to do it as I don't see the ND defense stopping SC.

As Fins will attest to, there are too many things to hunt in a very limited amount of time in the fall. Hunting season is winding down, the trips to C-ville are cranking up!

I've been on self-imposed cooling off period from yesterday, and while I respectfully disagree with some opinions (and since I'm sure everyone is tired of the topic), I'm not bringing it up again.  If anyone wants to further discuss the issue, feel free to email me.

That said, Wick's email caught some great Gagliardi quotes:
From Bob Sansevere at the PP:
BS Now that you're in your 80s, do you feel any different than you did when you were in your 70s?
JG I feel a lot older.
BS What are the chances I'll be asking you in 2016 what it's like to be coaching in your 90s?
JG Well, the chances are probably about the same as me winning that lottery. I suppose I should buy a ticket sometime. I have to always ask, "How do you buy these things, and where do you buy these things?"
...
BS So, tell me, is this team good enough to win a national title?
JG Well, I don't know. You jump from my first game to having me win a national championship. I'm not superstitious, but I am worried about coming out with too big a statement. You've got me thinking about the night before we played St. Thomas. I'm flicking around to see what's on TV. I was watching ESPN, and they have the 10 best coaches of all time. They had Steve Spurrier. Joe Paterno. Bobby Bowden. Then they come up with me. I was No. 5. I was so stunned. I fell off the darn chair. I almost died. I couldn't believe it. Woody Hayes was in there. Barry Switzer. Of course, Bear Bryant. No. 1 was Knute Rockne. I said, "They put me up as the fifth-best coach, and we'll go down and get our butt beat." I was worried if it was a jinx.

Hunting ... at a NASCAR race?  ??? I would think rifles with scopes would make those fellas nervous.

One more weekend of deer hunting, then Thanksgiving break, then it's the spearing opener...

Hope to see you at some BB games this year. I'll have to try to make more than the one game I saw last year.

Touchdown Tommy

fins: Was at Howie's with Frank and Wonka for the Vikes game on Sunday.  Saw the bar stool you owned.  They speak highly of you there...Will you be in Pella this weekend?

Sumander: Stiffyfestivities attendees are quickly forgetting the greatness and glory of your brats.  56321's Polishes earned him celebrity status on Saturday.

Tmerton and bennie: Careful...

RE: Year 2000 Season/Playoff Run

I am having a brain fart.  When did the J's lose to bethel (remember Neon Deon and the 43-36 game in Arden Hills?) in 2000?  I wanna say it was right before the playoffs.  Can someone help me out here?  Now that team had a lot more veterans, but this team is capable of making a deep run.  I hope Bethel doesn't lay an egg AGAIN this season... 8)

What a slap in the face for the Royals.  They win the MIAC AQ and still get sent on the road to a WIAC team that beat a D1-AA team earlier this season.  Also no question they are in the tougher side of the West Region Bracket.  Believe it or not I think the committee remembers what the Royals have done in the past in the playoffs...

WAIT for it....

WAIT for it....

WAIT for it....

Nothing.

Mr. President, I was wondering if there is a meeting of the CAC planned for Friday night in Pella?  Now I know I am not a member, but I would enjoy sitting at a nearby table, and maybe have a few bevy's with you and the members.
