I think Kelly said something like 130 seats sold, lots more room on the plain.

Did not ask about the liquids issue.

Spokane weather is more like Montana, less like the "pacific" weather
of Seattle or Portland.

I hope the forecast Sumander posted is more accurate than the one I posted.

Plain???

Did you really attend SJU, or are you a WIAC boy?

Wow you couldn't use UST or Bethel huh Duff?? :P

You know, I was going to say Augsburg, but since it's playoff time, I thought I'd throw an interconference rip out there :D

A tradition unrivaled...

BDB: Were you planning on sharing the scouting report with MIAC PP for Whitworth?  I see your Blue Devils played them into OT earlier in the season...

That was the game raiderguy came over for.

Been awhile, but I wasn't overimpressed with them. Nice QB, monster Tight End who was missing in the passing game until the tying drive in regulation. Whitworth was held scoreless by Stout until 3 seconds remained in the game. The Rats converted a couple 4th downs in that drive as well I believe.

The one thing that really impressed me was how the squad never quit and found a way to win 1500 miles from home. Hopefully the Johnnies get up early and keep the pedal to the metal on these guys.

Their quarterback is quite mobile, his completion stats for the Linfield game were 2 out of 10 passes completed. That probably was because of the weather. He is not afraid to run the ball and seemed to be quite successful at it. They have a tight end that is like 6'7" or 6'9", either way, he is huge. The Whitworth mother I was sitting by assured me that their punter and kicker were both good...she might be biased though! ;) Their win over Linfield seemed to have more to do with there ability to capitalize on Linfield mistakes than their ability to dominate a game. The Johnnies will need to make sure that they hold on to the ball or Whitworth will make them pay...

Apparently the Whitworth qb has a bad wheel (ankle/foot/whatever), which made him not very mobile last week against Oxy.  Let's hope he's still a gimp this week.
Nah. We want to whup em full strength - no excuses.

I need some help from all of you MIACers.  As we speak I'm in class with a Bethel alum and former football player.  We are arguing about what Bethel's place is in the conference.  I'm telling him they are no better than the third best program in the MIAC (behind St Johns and Concordia) and he is saying that they are in the top 2 (won't even admit St. Johns is #1).  Semi-objective input would be appreciated.

Rockcat, since he won't admit that SJU is #1, I will assume that you are the teacher and that this is a special needs class that you're teaching.

If we're basing this on recent history (say, since 2000), I would say, without a doubt in my mind, SJU is #1.  Then, it's a toss up between Bethel and Concordia.  If we're talking strictly on the MIAC, I might give the edge to Bethel, but Concordia has actually enjoyed some success on the national level.

I'd have to agree with that sentiment. If we are looking at the entire history of the MIAC, then Bethel is waaaaaaaaay down. But if we are looking at the past ten years or so, I'd put them in the top 3, with Johhnies being an obvious #1

Tmert, corrections made above.

Actually the MIAC records for the last ten years for those three schools are:

SJU 76-9
BET 64-21
CORD 56-29

WOW-- just looked at the MIAC football page to give credence as to why (if looking all-time, Gustavus is ahead of Bethel-- GAC has had 10 undefeated seasons before the NAIA even was a force!), and saw this.

Hamline University moves in new direction with football leadership
Paul Miller Hamline University athletic officials announced Tuesday that Paul Miller will be leaving his position as head football coach.

Someone have any information here?  Was this a force-out or something that Miller decided to do?

Any thoughts on a replacement?

When I was in 7th grade one of our assistant football coaches and substitute teachers (who was a football player from the University of Tulsa) was called in to give us a spelling quiz.  He stood up, announced the quiz, and then said, "Please spell the following words ... " which he then started to write on the chalkboard ...  We being 7th graders and wanting to show the teacher how smart we were, rather than letting him go on in this fashion we immediately stopped him and tried to explain the error of his ways.  He had this priceless quizical look on his face for several moments before the light finally went on upstairs.  A true Mastercard moment.  But there really are people out there like that.

After school, the children are all away.  I am doing paperwork, and soon will be heading home...

BTW, if any of you Ebay, go to the site and search "Tickle Me Holey".  Unbeknowst to him, we are auctioning off one of our teachers to allow someone to play PS3 with him for 3 hours while being able to tickle him.
No charity here, just good humor.  Bidding was at $3.21 a few hours ago!

Pretty much sums up my life...

A man owned a small ranch.  The Department of Labor claimed he was
not paying his help proper wages, and sent an agent out to interview him.

"I need a list of your employees and how much you pay them," demanded the DOL agent.
"Well," replied the rancher, "There's my ranch hand who's been with me for 3 years.  I pay him $600 a week, plus free room and board.
The cook has been here for 18 months, and I pay her $500 per week,
plus free room and board.  Then there's the half-wit.  He works about 18 hours every day and does about 90% of all the work around here.
He makes $10 per week, and I buy him a bottle of bourbon every  Saturday night."

"That's the guy, I want to talk to the half-wit," says the agent.
"That would be me," replied the rancher.

FIN:   you gotta  plus from the  "king of smite"  on  that one ,..... BEEN  THERE..  ;)

Well, I have no new information, but the Athletic Director Dan O'Brian wants a winning program, and if it isn't happening, he will find someone else to do it. The turnover in coaches at Hamline in his four years has been enormous. The women's soccer coach resigned as well, and I believe they finished last.

The thing with Miller that I see from the stands is that he doesn't inspire his team like his precedesor Donovan Larson did. Donovan didn't exactly have a great record but his players played hard each play. I think Miller was unable to get the talent out of his players.

Hamline has new facilities, now it needs someone who can recruit. They need to find someone who can bring in a few good players on each side of the ball.
