Big day on the ground for the Cobbs today as they run for 496 and have 600+ of total offense.  The bad thing was that the Cord defense was almost as bad as the Ole D.  But a win is a win, and I am excited about the way the offense is playing, because I believe the defense will be there, and that this was just a bad day.

Now it is on to the Fargodome and Mn-Morris.  Who while they may be bad, did beat Crown in double OT.

chris- thanks for the props on the win, it was huge for the team and the program.  it was coach Rupp's first state win in 33 years and it was well deserved.  a little cold down in Northfield but overall a good day, got a few sideways glances from some of the Ole students since I was wearing my SJU shirt and carrying a football around all day lol.  We even had a firetruck escort through St. Cloud back to the school, it was a long but eventful day.  I missed the football today, I knew there was something that wasn't quite right and thats probably it.  I can't believe I have to wait another week for the Tommie game  >:(

About as good as Pat letting TDT back on and setting him up on a blind date with a supermodel on the same day while ROR and 56321 sip martini's calmly agreeing on political issues.

Kilted, don't know about 56321, but I'm not a martini drinker.   ;D

ROR: Aren't you supposed to be sleeping like a baby in the Windy City?  Don't old guys go to bed at like 9pm?  BTW, the Bus would be glad to drink martinis with 56321.

Cobber/Ole game:

What a contrast in styles but yet are they...  Each team lines up in a very similar fashion but do things completely opposite.  Both teams have 2 split recievers, a single back, a quarterback and 2 players in the slot and use the slot guys in both the running game and pass game.  On paper if they were x's and o's they would be very, very similar.  Both teams seem to be similar in trying to move down the field methodically while trying to make the occasional big play.  I guess my point is that by looking at the stat sheet you would think these two offenses were as opposite as 2 offenses can be but in reality they are much more similar than we would think.

Johnnie fans you were right about the STO players and coaches being cheap during the game.  During pile up tackles they would lead with elbows to hit CC players in the stomach or legs.  Just classless.  Along with Meidt leading a great job DEFENSE after one of CC players was injured.  But it was a shootout today, I will give STO credit they have an explosive offense.  Regardless that they had to dig deep into the playbook to make big plays on our defense.  A win is a win though and 600+ yards of offense was great, but letting STO score 35 points wasn't good.  Players from CC told me that STO players talked smack the whole game.  How much talking was done at Collegeville last week??  A positive thing was that CC retains the sweet mossy covered troll that will look good in Horans office for another year.  Thats all I got.

What a great football mind. (in voice of PA and Dubay show).  You should coach.  You might be pretty good at it.

Classless + no D = watching the playoffs from the stands.

Interesting stats in the Cobber STO game. I am surprised the Cobber D let STO score as often as they did. I looks like the pass defense maybe suspect. STO it seems cannot stop the run the Cobbers had 70 rushing plays..

Any other comments on those who saw the game.

I would think the West now Linfield, SJU, Oxy, Coe, Monmouth, Central, Concordia and Whitworth with WW going to the North.

Concordia had a tough time keeping the Ole receivers in front of them.   St. Olaf scored on a few long ones and missed on a few more deep balls where the receivers had gotten behind the secondary.

As well as the Oles were playing offensively once CC got up 2 touchdowns I really thought the game was completely in their hands.  At no point did I feel St. Olaf being capable of stopping CC's running game when it mattered.  They were running the ball pretty much at will anywhere they chose.  The old 30 trip (Fullback straight ahead w/ a guard trap)  play which is usually good for 2-3 yards on a great day was going for 8-10 regularly.

All in all it was a very entertaining game.

On the final weekend of the MIAC schedule there are some games that will "make or break the season" for many teams. Who is most likely to be upset in the upcoming games?
CCM comes off a high scoring affair against STO and will not be slowed by the mighty Cougars of UMM. BU travels to GAC and with a win (along with a loss by STO) could pull into a tie for 3rd place in the MIAC. Sorry Frank & Mongo,BU is too much for GAC this year. No upset here.AUG travels to STO. This in my opinion is where an upset could occur. STO has given up 600+ yards of offense 2 weeks in a row. If AUG can exploit the obvious weaknesses in the STO defense an upset for the Auggies and a second win on the season is in the cards.Three straight losses to end the season would be "Meity bad" for the Oles. Any bets if the field will be wet and sloppy??
HAM vs CAR, the Knights have to be considered the favorites playing at home and will get their second MIAC win and a 4-6 overall record.
Now for the game everyone (well most of the posters on this board,Johnnies) will talk about this week. SJU travels to UST. The interesting sub-plot is the two ROCORI QBs playing in this game. Every year you can throw the records out the window, but in the end the Johnnies roll into the play offs with a #2 seeding in the West and at least 2 more home games.
Thoughts and opinions are welcome from one and all. ;D
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!
