For the curious, I'll post the quote about the record:

"The only time I've ever talked about the record [career wins]," [Gagliardi] said, "was when one of my coaches was telling a recruit, 'You're going to play for a coach who set a record that's never going to be broken.'"

"After the kid left, I said, 'Don't you think we'll ever win another game?' "

I really like that one...  I had to read it twice!

Happy TurK+ey Day to all!

Safe travels to all heading to see family and friends as well as all heading out to the left coast.

Here's a little gravy to spead on your turk+ey!
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

You too, KR.
You've been working harder than most of us, and can use the vacation.
I hope you get some time to hunt.

Well, I'm sitting here with a couple more minutes to blow before turkey time (seems like it's been that way all week...), so I'll tell a little tale of a small town Minnesotan visiting Melbourne for the first time.

A bit of background, my folks are lovely people and have lived in Grand Rapids for many a year.  That being said, they are very well traveled and worldly all the same.  My mom, however, sometimes can't get rid of that wide eyed look at all the crazy stuff in the Big Smoke.

A bit more background, Melbourne is king of coffee.  Folks here take great pride in their coffee and they drink much of it.  Is it 9:30 already?  Let's get a cuppa.  Want a coffee with lunch?  How about a 3 o'clock top up?  And they do it every which way.  Long, short, white, flat.  You name it.  Just don't add any whipped cream or caramel.  Sacrilege.

So, onto our story.  My wife and I are walking with my folks down Bridge Rd, Richmond.  A trendy spot verging on a counter-culture atmosphere but not quite making it.  Mom and dad are in front and I notice mom's eyes lock on a shop we're passing, but I don't even notice the shop's name.  What a do notice is that mom is almost twisting her neck off looking at the shop, so I glance over to see the 'Short Black Cafe'.

I look back to my mom and see that her head has almost detached when I calmly comment, 'Espresso, mom.  Not pygmies.'

OzJohnnie, Now THAT was very funny!  :D  I can just picture my very German-decended mother doing the exact same thing!   Kuddos, wish i could share some K....

OzJohnny,

I'm sure the Melbourne folks have trashed Sydney, but another place with a great name is Ribs & Rumps. Out on gorgeous Manly Beach, it's a carnivore's delight with great views of the "beach life."

Since I'm doing food recommendations, here's a couple for the Spokane-bound:

Charter flight probably won't allow it but a place called Clinkerdagger's used to be great. Also Anthony's at the Falls, which overlooks the Spokane Falls. Used to be a place called Birkebeiners for beer, but I'm not sure that's still around.

Not a bad town, Spokane, but on the whole, I'd rather be in McMinnville ...

I'm about to hit the hay after the big SJU Thanksgiving down under (it went well, thanks) and I realized I'm not going to be at the PC able to listen to the game this weekend.  I'm going down the coast with the in-laws to see the place that my wife's youngest sister and her husband bought.

Can I ask a big favor?  Will someone be willing to email me updates (say quarterly scores)?  I'll route those updates to my mobile phone and then all will be square.  Just send me a PM so I know your email address and can set up the rules.

Thanks a million in advance - and if you ever need a jar of Vegemite, just let me know.

BTW - Vegemite is the yeast extract sludge from the bottom of the beer brewing vat.  It is supposed to be very high in the Vitamins B and is loved by all dinky die (genuine) Aussie kids.  Unfortunately, I think it has assumed far more of the sludge qualities than beer.  Foulest goop I have ever tasted.

Update - It's been arranged.  Thanks, Zip.

On this post of the nasty 6's I would like to pay tribute to TDT the President of the Classless A$$hole Club of America. TDT brings passion to Post Patterns & spreads his goodwill & cheer all around, not just here in the MIAC. TDT is known far and wide and I would like to nominate him for poster of the year. It's the least I can do, because I sure can't give him any karma, because it would upset the world as we know it ;)

To all the usual suspects Happy TurK+ey Day ;D

Even some of the unusual suspects Happy TurK+ey Day :)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Man, I can't wait for the Dolphins-Lions tilt today.  :P

Joey Harrington returns to Detroit. Now there's a story line!  ;D

Happy Thanksgiving to the MIACPP!

I looked at the Whitworth website the other day. They only give up 13 points per game. Will it be a low scoring game? How many points do you feel the Johnnies need to score? Dito to having safe travel and having a happy Thanksgiving. Blessings!

BDB

I tried guys.

I googled up Anna Kournikova-Turkey and all I got was a news story of her arriving in Turkey.  :D

Happy Thanksgiving and safe travels to everyone!  I myself will be heading north sometime today (and when I say north, I mean just south of Rice).

For everyone heading to Washington, have a good flight!  I will be here listening to the game.

GO JOHNNIES!!!
