QuoteJohnnies run option to perfection.

When's the last time you could say that?

You were on the sideline at the time, I think...

With who running it?  Maybe Keating could run a decent option, but not great.  Linneman...no.  Denne...no.

The option is great when run correctly. The key is the QB selling it taking the key from the DE. Most QB coming from Minnesota H.S. programs either were pocket passers or just had a straight ahead running game. Now they are asked to run the option in college and pass as well- it is a new concept.

It will be interesting to see how the Cobbers do next year if they settle on one QB & get off the merry-go-round. What I remember of Jesse Nelson in H.S. he threw a pretty nice ball and we all know he can run the option or at least the version the Cobbers run.

Having a Vince Young type of QB is ideal, but until that happens we Johnnie fans will have to live with an "o.k." option attack. The other thing about having a running QB is the higher risk of injury.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Well, I floated the idea with the missus of flying back to the national championship game the next time the Johnnies make it.  Her only objection was that my mother would really like that; all the way back to the States for a ball game but not to see them.  I figure I could swing by Rapids for a quick visit on my way home after the big win (I figure as long as I'm doing the fairy tale, I might as well make it a good one).

What Momma don't know don't hurt her.

Just don't tell Momma you're making the trip. ;D

Veek and/or sju56321, can you bring along a few card tables and another grill for the Stiftungsfestivities? Anyone out there have a boombox that can actually play in cold weather? Rumor has it the Whitewater fans are dying to hear the Paris Hilton cd.

Anyone interested in getting together Friday night in Janesville? We had a Johnnie gathering last year at one of the local watering holes close to the Super 8 Motel on Milton Avenue.

I actually mentioned to my Badger son yesterday that it would be nice if he could put up his dad Friday night in Madison, since Badgertown is not that far from Whitewater. His response? "Dad, the bars close at 2:00 a.m. and then we head to our friend's apartment for some more fun and usually don't get home until around 4:00 a.m." After the stay in Spokane and the shopping mall/airport this past weekend, I think I could handle it. ;)

The image of Ryan Keating wrapping his right arm completely around the football comes to mind. :-X

Duffman-- This work at 6pm on Saturday stuff sucks. Can't you use that SJU education to figure a way out of it?

It's not "work" but a holiday party.  Sorry :'(

Duff,

My holiday party is Saturday night as well. I'm not going, just a bunch of drunken assholes talking smack. I would much rather spend my day at the UWW-SJU game! :D

Mine is actually a good time, and it is frowned upon by the higher-ups if you don't attend.  I'll hold down the fort here, though.

Lab-Rats like to party?   :o

Hell yeah!  And pharma companies have bigger budgets than schools, so the parties are nice :P

I'm back (which may delight some and not so much others) after spending thanksgiving in Philly....I regret to inform peeps that I did not try a philly cheese-steak sandwich, however, I saw the battlegrounds of Gettysburg, Valley Forge, and Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell....all were freakin' sweet and brought chills....

Congrats to SJU on the win...I think me and the Mrs. will attend the SJF/Rowan game this weekend

Hope everyone is well!

The Gettysburg battlefields are awesome, I was there this summer.  Pretty interesting and amazing to think what happened there in the 1860's.

It seemed that every kid in that town was a little "chubby", this can only be explained that every 4 buildings on each street is an ice-cream shop!

From Frank R's blog:

Just a final note on yesterday's game. It does, in fact, appear that both John Tesh and his wife Connie Selleca, the actress, were on hand to watch the Johnnies beat Whitworth.

Why, I'm not sure. Perhaps our entertainment reporter can pry that answer out of the Teshmeister in advance of his concert at the Paramount in St. Cloud in December.

I don't know why, but I get visions of Triumph the insult comic dog following Tesh to the game...

Update on the situation at Hamline:

It was my understanding that it was the President who asked for Miller's resignation, and not that of Dan O'Brien...now whether or not people played words off of one another, I'm not 100 percent sure.

Dan O'Brien, if you recall, was the man who brought Miller into the program to turn things around, because of his experience and proven track record.

Look for not onyl Chad Rogosheske as a front runner, but also head MAC coach, and former OC at SOuth Dakota, Glenn Caruso, to take interest in the job.  Caruso was the Alumni committee's choice for head coach following the retirement of Coach Larson 2 years ago...

Ill let you guys know more later in the week...

several Hamline players are meeting this week with admin. to find out why Miller was let go.

The President of the College firing the football coach? Now the MIAC has hit the big time. :(
Of course, the President must know what she's doing. She was President at Sante Fe College and also has a PhD in "educational leadership".

I LOVE it-- suspicion of Hamline stealing Macalester's head coach.  The Paint Bucket Trophy has gone hard core!

Great game yesterday, Johnnies!!  I finally arrived home at 5:30 a.m.  I was sad that we couldn't stay at the Mall a little longer.

It was nice meeting Bennie.  Thanks for the Hamms, cookies, and reserved seat!

Our running game was excellent yesterday.  We led a very balanced offensive attack.

Our defense improved greatly throughout the game and made many key plays in the second half.

Great spending time with JR, TDT, Bennie, and Dusty yesterday.  It was nice seeing Irish, too.

Go Johnnies!!!  I am looking for a much improved game this year in Whitewater.

Get ready, Zip!!  The train is getting prepared to roll out.  I'll be in touch.

Veek, since you didn't mention Veek, Sr. I won't feel so bad that you left me out. ;)

I had the opportunity to play for Miller at Olaf and AV. I was really suprised that they forced him out. If you look at his history it has always taken him a while to get things going. At Olaf it took him 4 years before his 7-3 season, at South St. Paul he took 2 years of 0 and 1 win seasons before putting the program in a position to win games. He's not an X's and O's guru that can turn things around simply by schemes. He's a players coach that makes you want to win games for him. It should be interesting to see who takes that job, its a really tough place to recruit. I don't know if Hamline has really found its niche. Hamline was Miller's 4th head coaching job in something like 6 years. I wouldn't be suprised if he hangs it up, but I'd love to see him coaching again too.
