1 last thing before I go, no matter what ESPN claims, a 5'9 310 lb 17 year old girl is NOT AN ATHLETE!

She outweighs her NFL Lineman brother by 10 lbs and is 7 inches shorter.
Any "ability" she has on the football field is only due to mass effect and the fact the defense (and her teams RB's) have to run around her.

QuoteEvery other time Alter scores a touchdown, Holley -- who stands at 5-foot-9 and weighs 310 pounds -- runs onto the field for the point-after attempt

5'9 300lbers don't run, especially the females.

KR - I hear what you are saying but did you see where she can squat 570?  Thats not too bad.

Great inspirational story.  I admire her persistence and for wanting to be a part of the game, not just being a part of the team.  Playing guard, though it may not be a pulling-type guard, is pretty impressive, as any position in the trenches is admirable for an underdog to succeed in.  She's not just kicking-- she's protecting the QB and opening a hole-- good for her.  Combine that with the inevitable body issues women at that age have...and she's got a great head on her shoulders.  Best wishes to her, as I sincerely hope she makes her mark in track and field, which would give her a chance to continue as an athlete.

I laughed at that.  And now I feel about 6 years old.

She made a great point--no one wants to see her in a cheerleader outfit.

I didn't say I'd want to be the RB to ram it (through)...

Enough on that subject.  Mind is too far in the gutter already....

Veek, Johnnie Esq or ROR, can you bring your grill along for the Stiftungsfestivities on Saturday? Let me know. Thanks.

It doesn't look like I will be available to join the Whitewater bus, but if ROR or Veek want to bring the grill in my stead, you are certainly welcome to it.

Chewey and I will be heading east from Minneapolis sometime Friday evening and we hope to see everyone at the tailgate.  I don't think we will go all the way to Janesville, so will anyone else be staying Friday night in the Dells/Madison area?

Had a nice time last Saturday despite the extended stay at the Spokane airport.  The best part was Chewey graciously giving me his seat on the way home.  And that reminds me.... how about the cold cheeseburgers at 2:00 in the morning?!? :-\

Brice out.

Squat stats are a commodity I don't trust much. I knew a guy in high school who could "squat" 600lbs while weighing 160. Only thing is he went down about 6 inches.

Besides, she curls 200lbs too, but that's just her lunch. :o

You did notice she's the back-up guard at 310. Imagine what would be said about a 310lb male O-lineman who couldn't start for his high school.

You didn't read the article, she's protecting the kicker on every-other PAT and the 3rd string QB late in blowouts. Nothing against back-ups, I was one for most of my high school career, but would we be reading this story if she wasn't 1. Nick Mangold's sister and 2. a girl?
Who would ever read a story about a 310lb back-up guard otherwise?

As someone working in/who will be working in the healthcare field and seeing lots of teens, the last thing we need to do is put any type of positive spin on a girl weighing 310lbs!
That's a BMI of 45.8. >30 is considered obese, she's obese and a half or in other terms double her ideal body weight!!

I agree with the dangers of body issues and presssure to a large degree, but no one who is less than 6'4 and a powerlifter should ever weigh 300 lbs. She is eating her way onto the fast track for Diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, heart attacks, pulmonary emboli, and a list of other health conditions too long to mention in 1 paragraph.
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

I actually went to school with one. The only time he ever got cheered or made an appearance worthy of note was when the football team started the gym chanting his name at the Homecoming Pepfest and he performed the splits at midcourt.

The memory brings a tear to my eye.

*He was 5-foot-6 and about 335 pounds.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

The real question is, how much can that girl leg press. Remember the story about Pat Robertson from a few months ago? Wasn't his claim that he could leg press 2,000 pounds ??? He'd probably be a hell of a lineman too.

Brice;

The cold cheeseburgers were no contest when comparing the lively conversation with TDT to my left and Chewey to my right.  The smokin' hot brunette and the sultry blonde seated next to you though caused me to strain my neck and wonder how you got so damn lucky.

Wish I could join you the night before however the garnet colored Town and Country is scheduled to depart EP at 5:00am Saturday morn, our traditional take off time for Johnnie postseason play.

Enjoy some cheese!  :D

Amen!  It ain't a squat if your thighs aren't parallel to the ground.

This chick does sound like TDT's type, though if he were into chicks
