That's why Mongo hasn't made it to any tailgate parties this year..... he's been on "The Love Boat" :o
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

What amazes me is that you know the team's recod vs UST over the last 20 years!  I am a huge Hawkeye fan, but would be hard pressed to tell you their record vs the Gophers over the last 10 years.   Enjoy the weekend, since it sounds like it really means a lot to you that your club continues their domination of UST.  Good luck.

If Mongo had been on the Loveboat, that would be more of an acceptable excuse than what he's had.

It's a damn shame there isn't any rabid Tommie support in here.  Sure, it wasn't a fair fight against AO, but it was still entertaining.  I think it's a sign of the times: folks just don't support institutions like they used to.  Being a fanatic isn't something to be admired anymore, it instead seems to be distained.

So, I guess I must post a serious analysis.  Bugger.

I predict monkey stomp extraordinaire.  The fear?  That the Johnnies look past this game to the playoffs next week.  The odds of that are slim, I think.  When given a chance to prove maturity and focus, I don't think these guys will come up short.

AO

who's saying I lost the fight?

Is everyone looking forward to a concordia-sju matchup in the playoffs?  does this scare the johnnie faithful to play the cobbers again?

it is to bad that there aren't more rabid fans.  has loyalty to your school or team gone the way of the buffalo only to be replaced by pessimissim and worse yet, realism?  Where are the true homers out there?

Yes, hopefully both teams can make it that far and the NCAA places them far enough apart that its not a 2nd round matchup.

No, this time would be on our turf. Nothing scares the Johnnie faithful except for the thought of you marrying into one of our families.

Sadly, loyalty usually fades as a team's season does. Remember Amaru, Olefan, Freebird, Blugold45... remember how rabid and confident they were the week(s) before they played SJU? Remember Amaru predicting Auggie Tech would contend for the MIAC crown?  Watching your team fall victim to the Red Tide in convincing fashion kills loyalty/enthusiasm as does a losing season.

Maybe someday you too will get a bit of realism... doubt it.

The true Homers and other great philosophers of the world are long gone. No more can a man get wealthy and eat like a king for merely sitting around and thinking. The modern man must think as well as do to survive.

knights,
The Tomcats have beaten the Johnnies 14 times (I think) in the 53 years that John has been coach. That is 14 times too many especially those that happened while I was at Collegeville. The longest Johnnie winning streak was 9 games from '58 - '66.
On Saturday the current streak will be 8.
GO JOHNNIES  :D :D :D

Gah! What do you mean it's only Wednesday!? This game can't come soon enough.

TOMMIES SUCK!

JOHNNIES BLOW...them out of their own stadium.

Score: 42-7. Tommies get a mercy touchdown to avoid the double 'stomp.

I've yet to see a Johnnie loss to UST and I don't plan to see my first on Saturday.
Nice day, huh?

No disdain, well maybe a little, but just surprise as to the loyalty shown.  You are right people don't seem to be as "fanatical" about institutions as they used to be.  But as others have said, its easy to be a loyalist to a superior team, not so when your team falls from grace.  That is why sju is unique, they have been dominant for so long just as MUC has been and I am sure there are a few other regional/national powerhouses in the various sports.  In sju case no one has been able to wrestle the power away longterm, and until they do the fanaticals will reside with the johns.

Another thought on the apparent apathy is that maybe people just have other things they would rather do than go watch their alma mater on gorgeous autumn Saturdays.  I know I would prefer to be golfing, and once my son completes his tenure at UST that is exactly where I hope I will be.  My choice.

ZIP,
Good to hear you might have your regular seat. I've stocked up on the Orville Redenbacher Butter Light.
Another reason  not to worry;
WE WILL WIN WITH NO!   I'm still a Worry Wart like you.
