DuffMan

Duff is back!  No time to catch up on the past 5 days now, but I will chip away at it.  Weather on Upper Red way frigid at best, but the walleye were hungry.  Fish bit, beer flowed...it was a great trip.

A tradition unrivaled...

I dont know much about the guy, which doesnt bode well. I'm not saying the guy cant coach, obviously he must know what he's doing if he's in the NFL, but this team needed a guy who was a proven recruiter with ties to the west coast and Florida, and who knows if this guy fits that bill.

The guy recruited Chris Simms and some guy named Vince Young to Texas.  Before working for Mack Brown at Austin, he was with Mack Brown in North Carolina where he recruited Alge Crumpler.  Mack Brown calls Brewster his ace and he's known to be one of the best recruiters in the country, with ties to Texas, San Diego, Illinois, and New Jersey.

I'm convinced that this isn't coincidence, but his sons are both big-time recruits-- his older son is a 4-star QB who has verballed to Illinois; his younger son is a Safety who has been offered a tender to Texas as a junior.

So I'm patiently optimistic what this guy can do with a new stadium.  His age will allow him to directly compete with Ferentz and Bielema in the Upper Midwest as well.

No comment on the Gophers' new coach?  ???

Pat Ruesse has an interesting article on Tim Brewster here. Sounds like the guy is a big time recruiter!

Does anyone know if there are still tickets left for the wagon ride tomorrow night?  If there are, what time should one plan on arriving at the station....umm I mean the La?

Tickets are still available on the bandwagon for tomorrow night, with one-stop service through St. Joe, with a layover there from 5:30 to 7-ish. It's the clash of the undefeated titans, it's gotta be big to keep me off the ice tomorrow night.
Who's in? Buckman, Raiderguy? Frankrickard-where aaaaarrrrreee yooooouuu?
Welcome back Duff.

"I think it's a very good hire for Minnesota. The AD did a good job, in my opinion. I understand [USC assistant] Lane Kiffin was the runner-up. He's probably the best college recruiter in the country right now, so the Gophers couldn't have gone wrong either way."

Yeah, except for the other guy is better at it.

raiderguy

Fins,

Save some seats....Ron of the flying Tomczaks, Mr. Wicker, Jeff Norman and Raiderguy are in. Should be there in time for a least one pre-game warm-up. Then we'll have to see what happens.

Should we bring our song books or will the "band" take care of the music?

You travel in such distinguished circles, Raiderguy. No doubt, this esteemed group will want to purchase 1st class upgrades at the gate?
If you don't know the "Johnnie Fight Song" by heart, bring your book. That's all we'll be singing.

Touchdown Tommy

Fins: Make sure to mention to Theowick and Ron T that you are close personal friends with Touchdown Tommy.  They'll be buying your Hamm's the rest of the night.  Also, I trust you'll be leading the cheers during the game (i.e. Bus driver cheer to UST)...Call me if you need help or last minute recognizance.

Also, Raiderguy, please leave all purple apparel at home in the closet for this appearance in Cville.  No excuses.

Touchdown Tommy

ATTENTION BlueDevilBob: Tomorrow night would be a terrific opportunity to make a road trip to Cville.  Great chance to experience the rivalry of the Toms/Johnnies and maybe bring Coach Todd along to help raise his spirits.  I am sure Fins will introduce you to all of our cronies at the La Playette.

TDT - thanks but tomorrow night will be the first night in 6 days that I won't be in a hockey rink somewhere.

I'm looking forward to spending some time with my 6 year old daughter for a change. Otherwise a the trip to the La Playette with fins and cronies would be well worth it.  8)

Have fun with the princess BDB. We'll be sure to hoist a Hamm's to the east to toast you, Todd and all other ne'er-do-wells. ;)

But, but, but, but, but.........................

I have such a nice brand spanking new T-shirt that says something about...........

RAIDERS 2006 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS OF DIVISION III

If you want one of those I could probably arrange it.

The only red I have is the embarrasment of the other team in Ohio who happens to be wearing

RED.

Mostly on their faces I might add.

WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

raiderguy

T. T.,

I'll see what I can do.

You know the Raiders played Linfield and beat them soundly. Something called the "Cactus Classic" in Phoenix in December.

There is something else the Johnnies and the Raiders have in common.

The only problem was the ball was round. But results were the same.

Smile Wildcat 11 it is the off season.
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!
