Breaking news from Carver County. A seven-year-old boy was at the center of a courtroom drama today when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparentely a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with social service officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the University of St. Thomas football team, whom the boy firmly believes is not capable of beating anyone.

On the 3rd anniversary of my buddy Josh's disappearance, I just wanted to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers both immediately after and in the following years for Josh's friends and family.

I know everytime I go to SJU or think about SJU, Josh comes to mind and I hope and pray that someday he will make it back or we will at least know what happened.

I consider this board like a distant dysfunctional branch of my family and am grateful to call many of you my friends. You all helped me through the difficult times following Josh's disappearance and for that I am eternally grateful to you all.

Please say a prayer today if you have time that Josh's friends and family may someday know peace.

A real life Hoosiers story in the making as my high school in Iowa has made it to the semis of the state 4A football finals (largest class) for the first time in school history.  Only 600 kids in grades 9-12 for my catholic high school, Davenport Assumption, playing against schools with enrollments of 1100+ (Cedar Falls & Des Moines Dowling) and 1600 at West Des Moines Valley.  Valley's senior class is the size of my entire high school.  Heading down to the UNI Dome Friday afternoon to watch them play Cedar Falls.  Go Knights!!
