Flash: You have kids??  I am not sure what is the more traumatizing thought, Flash fornicating or Kilted Rat's upcoming brood...

5 kids, but the youngest is 24. The thought of me doing the deed wasn't as bad 25 years ago.

Very interesting article in the NY times about D3 sports, and how there are talks of splitting the division in two.

Good discussion about this on the general division III issues board-- future of D3.

I wasn't aware of the discussion on splitting D3.  How are you handicapping this, Esq?  If it happens, whither the Johnnies and the rest of the MIAC?

TDT, my "little girl" is an angel and would never, ever go into any type of store like that in Denver or anywhere else. While I did get her a gift card at Victoria's Secrets for Christmas, I am going to assume she was going to use that for some new socks and nothing else. ;)

There is an auction at the Medina Ballroom Thursday (Feb. 15) for Bill Steins (last surviving Hamms artist) collection of original Hamm's artwork.  Here is the website for the auctioneer and here is the website for the online bidding, if anyone is interested.  Even if you're not interested, there's some pretty cool items up for auction.  They are estimating one of the pieces to go for somewhere between $6500 and $15,000.

Too early to tell.  Splitting D3 has had an undercurrent since the late 1990s but is growing more vocal with the focus of D3 making certain moves such as the elimination of routine redshirting which was met with some resistance from former NAIA members and larger, often public schools (think NWC and WIAC).  D3 IS increasingly diverse and with a waiting list to get in.  So something will happen.

My hope is the NCAA looks at all divisions and figures it out, instead of isolating it as a D3-only problem.  That D3 has a waiting list and D2 seems to be growing at a much slower rate, if at all, indicates that it is not an independent issue.  Considering the issues with BCS and the numbers of schools at D1-A, football crosses all divisions.

This means the Godfather was sniffing...errrr...shopping at a Victoria's Secret in the Twin Cities.  Ut oh, what could be next???

BDB: Just curious how many and how old are your rugrats?  Are they well behaved like their old man?

Buckman: I will peruse the auction bulletin and report back.  May need you to bid on a Hamm's beer "tub" if they have one.  That would be the ULTIMATE to keep our beverages cold and refreshing...

EDIT: Oh and I can't lie, he might be a relative of mine...  8)

Anyone interested in attending the auction. They are great fun and it sounds like a lot on one of a kind stuff. I may try and make the event.

TDT, I just happened to pick up an old aluminum Hamms cooler at an auction not long ago. Should be ready to preview in some upcoming event. Needs a little work but it's a big sucker compared to the ones made today.

RE: 1776
Alfred University is situated in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains along the Southern Tier of Western New York. At one time, the old "Weary Erie" passenger trains (the main line between New York and Chicago) ran through the Town of Alfred (over the hill from the university) and reached its highest elevation at a point aptly called "Tip Top." The elevation at Tip Top, from which the water, as expected, flows in opposite directions, is 1776 feet above sea level.
