DAMMIT!

I'm going to have to wait to see Silva self-destruct. They just announced tonight's Twins/Chisox game is postponed due to cold weather. More jonesing for me, Sumander! :(

Now what am I going to do after the Eagle's fish fry?

Touchdown Tommy

I think you could devour a terdy pk of Hamm's, fins.  Wow has MLB gotten soft.  I don't ever remember this many cancellations or postponements ever.

Have a nice weekend fellas.  TDT will be chasin' some muff around the pool...

Looks like that's what it will come down to.

I quietly while away the winter months, sitting on the ice catching fish, waiting for baseball season to start. Now, 2 days in a row without a Twins game. This is really depressing...developing.  >:( :(

BDB

I am jonesing with you big guy.  :-\

Plus, my internet service went down this morning and I couldn't get on here to complain about no game.  >:(

Back up now. May have to pop in the Twins World Series DVD if things get too boring tonight.  ;)

sumander,
Perhaps the toughest old ranger cuss I ever met was Jim Malosky from C-I. He played with Harry P. Grant and Verne Gagne (under Bierman, I think). He coached UMD back in its MIAC days and had some awesome talent in guys like Terry Egerdahl and Ted McKnight.

Had a son Jim who played QB and later coaches with him. Grant also sent a son north to play for him (Bruce, a QB)  ... sound familiar?

Hate to sound like an old fart, perhaps I'm channeling Frank Uible ...

This past winter I had some very, very talented guys on the eighth grade hoops team I coach (one loss through grades 6-8). One kid had FB offers from DeMatha AND Good Counsel (a couple of East Coast powerhouses) and another had a hoops offer to Dematha (where five kids signed d-1 letters last fall) ... and neither one of them would last a practice under oldtimers like Malosky.

There's a big difference between chasing and catching.  I have a feeling you'll do plenty of chasing--just no catching.

A tradition unrivaled...

A Mafia Godfather finds out that his bookkeeper has cheated him out of ten million bucks. His bookkeeper is deaf, which is the reason he got the job in the first place.  They figured a deaf bookkeeper would not hear anything that he might have to testify about in court.

When the Godfather goes to confront the bookkeeper about his missing $10 million, he brings along his attorney, who knows sign language.

The Godfather tells the lawyer "Ask him where the 10 million bucks he embezzled from me is."

The attorney, using sign language, asks the bookkeeper where the money is.

The bookkeeper signs back: "I don't know what you are talking about."

The attorney tells the Godfather: "He says he doesn't know what you're talking about."

The Godfather pulls out a pistol, puts it the bookkeeper's temple and says, "Ask him again!"

The attorney signs to the bookkeeper: "He'll kill you if you don't tell him!"

The bookkeeper signs back: "OK! You win! The money is in a brown briefcase, buried behind the shed in my cousin Enzo's backyard in Queens!"

The Godfather asks the attorney: "Well, what'd he say?"

The attorney replies: "He says you don't have the balls to pull the trigger."

Train wreck a commin' ?  ???

Maybe the cold weather will help his non-sinking sinker drop a bit.

BDB: Just curious, will the Twins game be on the big screen at the BDB Mansion tomorrow as you prepare Easter lunch/dinner (brats, burgers, hot dogs in honor of the Twins)?

btw: Silva was even worse than the media said he was in Spring Training.  Trust me BDB he was real real bad.  I think it is a blessing he is facing the White Sox instead of the 1927 Yankees lineup on Monday for the HOME opener...

Good thing he's tight with Johann, or he'd be long gone. If he tanks today, he can blame the weather.
The old remote's going to get a workout today, flipping between golf and baseball. 8)

How's the chasing/catching going, TDT?

raiderguy

I think TDT follows the MN policy of catch and release, that way he doesn't suffer from serious rejection issues.

Come to think of it, if all you catch is Carp, why not release?

Is it 2 A.M. yet Tommy?

Happy Easter to all!

WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

This pilot apprently received information that TDT was going to be on his flight (which obviously was erreroneous as he was in FL running in circles around a swimming pool).

Everyone give TDT some +k for Easter!  8)

This has little or nothing to do with anything posted on the MIAC thread except that AUPepBand is making plans to attend the St. John's-Marietta football game Sept. 1 in Collegeville. Mapquest figures Pep will be on the road a long time:

Total Est. Time:  17 hours, 0 minutes
Total Est. Distance: 1065.36 miles

My cousin in Savage, MN has extended an invitation to stay with her family. I'm looking forward to partaking of the Stiftungfestivities and adding to the 2007 numbers for the Johnnies, who led the nation in attendance in 2006 among D3 schools, where the competition is keen and they play for the love of the game.

Meanwhile, back in Alfred, the band is brainstorming regarding its pre-game rehearsals that we'd like to take to the tailgaters and transform it into a pre-game "Tailgate Pepfest." In addition to pre-game jams, we're thinking of serving up some pre-game pep with  1/3 lb. PepBandBurgers w/jalapeno peppers, Peppercorn ranch kettle style chips, a hot or sweet pickled pepper, and a can of Dr. Pepper, so misunderstood, yet the official soft drink of the AU Pep Band.

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

Superfoot Wallace

Happy Holiday to all on the MIAC Board.

Just wanted to throw my two cents in on the St. John's University matchup with Marietta College.

Kcreds has been a poster for the past few years on the NCAC board due to junior's  attendance at Ohio Wesleyan and is now an OAC poster as his son has transferred to Marietta.  Has kept us all informed to an extent as to the recruitng trail while following son's tenure.

The lowdown for Marietta is this, many good transfers into a rising OAC program.

Think this MIAC-OAC matchup is potentially the greatest national litmus test for DIII football.  Two powerhouse conferences, both with the potential for multiple representatives in the postseason, pitting an understudy of the of the juggernaut against a perpetual candidate to ring the championship bell in Salem.

While Marietta is most probably not the favorite to win the OAC, and in many opinions not the most likely candidate to receive a Pool C, this is a program holding great potential, and one of the Cinderellas to be followed, moreso now with a high profile non-conference matchup.

The fact this game is played before the grinder of the OAC schedule gives a good indicator as to both the depth of the OAC and the apparent quality of the MIAC incumbent against fresh legs.  Have to think dates with Baldwin Wallace (boo! hiss!,) Mount et al will prove too stern when compiled with an opener against another game opponent, but that is why they play the games.

Witt has done this for the last few years, opening with an unenviable nonconference slate.  While the NCAC is not the OAC in terms of football prowess, have to think in the case of Marietta if it doesn't kill you it makes you stronger.  Kudos to Marietta for stepping up to the plate.  Play this game like it is the championship game and hope the unending swell of a win carries the team into conference play and maybe beyond.

Happy Easter and +kandy to all within reasonable reach.

MacLeod, thanks for the column. Nice to get a football tome in the midst of the off-season dregs.
As for Marietta, I hope it's a contest. Unlike Big 10 teams around here, non-conference games are sometimes the toughest games.

Pep, by the looks of that mapquest info, I'd say your best bet is to fly in here. We're looking forward to entertaining you, but as for the meat....well, let's just say, we've got that covered. Feel free to bring the jalapenos though. I'll make sure there's some koolaid available to put out the fire. And what's this Dr. Pepper? Is that good mixed with vodka?

Feel free to circulate the sheet music in advance and we'll get a combo together to jam with you.
