BTW: Please please tell Joe that Punto needs to bat 8th or 9th and not 2nd.  He is killing us in the 2 hole with that .194 avg and terrible OBP.

Good call on that one TDT. You're dead-on right. Although the Twins, 1 through 9, of late, have been making mediocre opposing pitchers look like Cy Young.
Through 9 innings today, they've put up 5 hits. Only good thing: Royals have 4. 0-0 score in the 10th.

I would think that Gardy's call not Joe's. However, I completely agree.

Do any of the MIAC schools have JV football teams - or does the conference not permit them?  I posted a query about this on the general board and found that a number of schools outside the MIAC have JV programs (surprise - Mt. Union has a very healthy JV program).  I recognize that some of the MIAC schools probably wouldn't have enough players to do it but it would seem to make sense for some others.  And there might be some great games - like Johnnie JVs versus Northwestern varsity! :D

Yes, I believe UST, GAC, and Bethel have them, and I think Concordia has one as well.  I'm not sure about Hamline and St. Olaf, and I don't think Augsburg, MAC, or Carleton have them.  SJU definitely does NOT have one.

Remember, the Northwestern (Roseville) JV beat the Bethel JV, so lookout for those Eagles!

Agreed. It would be much too difficult for Gags to sneak a 5th and 6th year of eligibility out of the late bloomers on his 200-man roster if other coaches had game tape of said players participating. With no JV, it appears yo be quite easy to sneak a doctor's note through the NCAA governing body.

"Umm, yeah...he definitely dropped a weight on his foot a few months ago. Can he get that year back? I promise he didn't play."

Besides, it would make too much sense to give the other 150 guys on the team something to do ::)
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Willy Wonka

Wonka is watching the draft and loving it. The Vikes finally made a pick he like...and could help them finish 8-8, given our stellar receiving corps.

The best part? I've had Tom Petty's "Free Fallin" playing on repeat for almost two hours now with no end in sight. I'm sure TMerts is in tears over the Golden Boy, who has been shoved down our throats more today than the WNBA has been over the last 10 years. Just sickening.

I love it!
I just called my buddy who went to ND and blared Free Falling in the background then I come on here and see this 5star post!

The only good thing about falling this far for Brady is that he won't be such a disappointment when he flops.
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

You girls need to get a life.  If you don't like watching the media fawn over BQ, do what I'm doing (or not doing) - don't watch it.  But I'm sure KR is happy to see that BQ ended up in his home state with the Browns.

We'll see whether your 'Brady flops' prediction pans out, KR - but frankly, I'm more concerned with how Kofoed's going to do next year.

Kilted Rat

I'm happy to see Quinn going to Cleveland because it means the Browns will continue to wallow in mediocrity for years to come. Also because he will be the back-up to a no-name guy who grew up 20 min from me (Charlie Frye from Willard, Ohio).

I would have rather seen him go to the Vikes to help boost the Packers' defensive stats for years to come, but such is life.

I've got no dog in this fight ... but even so a decent year first season for BQ doesn't mean much --- Rick Mirer was the AFC offensive rookie of the year.

Interesting that he's up a against a guy from Gerry Faust's other school, the Zips.

Nice article on STO's Andrew Schmiesing in the Strib tomorrow.

Reusse's quote:
You have to go back to the MIAC's early years, to 1923, to find St. Olaf winning an outright football title.

The Oles will be the favorites to claim that distinction this fall.
