Just got caught up on the post from Friday through the weekend; wow, there's a lot of stuff there!

I know I'm coming in a little late with this one, but I just want to say something regarding the situation with the rape charges: I am extremely ashamed to say that one of my first reactions to reading that story was a bit of happiness because of the negative press the SJU Football program would get because of it (I defy any opponent of SJU to say they didn't feel the same).  What an awful reaction, and I publicly apologize for having those feelings.  Speaking as a Bethel Football coach, our prayers go out to the player, his family, the young lady and her family.  We have all made mistakes in our lives that we have lived to regret, and although I'm far from condoning the player's actions (even if it wasn't rape, what he admitted to doing is probably not a good thing to do), I am no better than him, and it's only by the grace of God that I and everyone else on this board abstain from doing these things.

Northwestern did beat Augsburg at Northwestern last year, it's true. Augsburg might be favored at home, however.

I miss Mightly Royal.   :'(

MR, please come back.  I need my daily Chuck Norris factoid.   :D

Yeah, I miss MR, too.  I don't need Chuck Norris, but MR needs to come back to PP.

Pioneer Press: Contrary to a report elsewhere, legendary St. John's (Collegeville) football coach John Gagliardi has no plans to retire next year, or any time.  [Take that, Strib!]

Tmert. What's the depth chart looking like at the LB position or is it too early to tell?
I fly any cargo that you can pay to run

Way too early to say.  There were 32 LBs last year and probably about the same this year.

Speaking of numbers....

A gushy reporter told Phil Mickelson, "You are spectacular; your name is synonymous with the game of golf. You really know your way around the course. What's your secret?"

Mickelson replied, "The holes are numbered

The most I saw of Phil over the weekend was on Saturday's early broadcast on TNT - they showed him arriving in the Southern Hills parking lot and then hitting a bucket down on the driving range.  Phil fades again.

Not that I can blame anyone for fading on the Southern Hills course.  I grew up playing there and "faded" damn near every time I played.  Never was such a great course wasted on such little talent. :'(

I had the good fortune of attending Thursday's round at Southern Hills! What a great lay-out. Kinda of like Augusta though, TV does not show the elevation changes! Walked by a photographer carrying about 200lbs of equipment and sweating is as* off. His comment was"now I know why they call it Southern Hills"!

Sounds like fun Sumander. Did you see my man, John Daly? What a case. That heat must've been tough for 4 days with a hangover and smoking cigs.  :D But he ended up tied with Lefty, both winning a cool $34,750. :o

Was rooting for Woody Austin. Sponsored by Tabasco who provides his wild shirts. Cool dude. 8)

Glad you got to see the club, Sum.  Whenever it snowed we used to go sledding down the hill from the first tee.  People don't think of Oklahoma as being hilly, and most of the state isn't (e.g., Oklahoma City), but the northeast corner of the state is really quite nice - hillier and greener than the rest of OK.

Hundred degree heat is not unusual there during the summer.  Even as kids you notice that kind of heat - especially when carrying your own bag. :P   I worked the 58 Open (Tommy Bolt won that year).  I had a stick with a nail in the end and must have picked up a thousand paper cups. ;)

For the record, people don't think of Oklahoma as being snowy, either.

Fin's didn't get out to the course til after Big John was done! J.D didn't play a practice round at Southern Hills! instead he spent Mon-Wed. Playing at a casino course nearby! ;D He is one of a kind.

That drop is unbelievable! with the crowd trampling down the rough on the side of #1 you had to walk down it sideways so you wouldn't slip
