Thanks everyone for the input. Right now we, my wife and 6 year old daughter, are planning on driving because I have never been up that way before. We are leaving Friday and driving straight through, approximately 15 hours. Going straight to the tailgate and game. After that I was looking at checking in at the Best Western Kelly Inn at St. Cloud, unless someone else has a better suggestion. Looking to do something Saturday after the game and all day Sunday. We will head back Sunday night or Monday morning. I asked my wife to skip the mall which she is considering but I need a good alternative. I'm not sure the Fair will be it. Probably would like to stay around the St. Cloud area. Pretty much open to any suggestions. By the way, I will keep my Crown Royal discreetly in my cup. Go Pios!

You could also take a walk around College of St. Benedict. No lake, but still a pretty campus. I may be a bit bias! ;D

My friend just sent me her summer camping pictures from Mille Lacs Lake. It is a bit northeast of St. Cloud. I love a lake so big you can't see across it! :D

You can tell your wife that I recommend skipping the Mall and I am a female that loves to shop! It has the same stores you will find in any mall, just repeted over and over. Wilson Leather, Wilson Leather Accessories, Wilson Leather Purses, etc. I was actually a bit disapointed.

Although I've been reading these posts for a few years now I just read that you are from Slayton Bennie! If so you had my father for a teacher and we saw you back in 2002 when the Johnnies played Linfield.

On another note 192 players were expected to report for practice on Sunday but only 180 showed up. What happened to the others, although they probably aren't needed?
You will have to say hi to your parents and your sisters for me! ;D

Bennie:
Got any dirt on Brian Wisdorf from Slayton?  He's an old neighbor of mine and actually lives over in the Chaska area next door to a former Johnnie Football player named Tom Rambolt.

Any of you MIACers have any input on what the outcome of the Southwest State / UW Eau Claire game will be?

UWEC has a new coach and I thought Southwest State was in Missouri until I looked it up (are they NAIA or what?).  I doubt you'll find much input here.  Try the WIAC board.

SW MN State U = Schwan's U.

As far as UWEC/SWMNST, it's a tossup.  Neither team is supposed to be very good in their respective conferences.  I'd give the nod to the Mustangs, but the WIAC teams have shown a knack for pulling rabbits out of hats against D2 schools, and the quality of players at UWEC certainly have the ability to pull off the upset.
