The end of an era, but arrangements have been made for an alternate KTV*.

Thanks for the good wishes fellas. +k's

Just got back from meeting with the insurance adjuster. He declared the house uninhabitable at this time.

Looks like this will be quite a ride for a couple months.

My little girl started crying when we pulled up to the house yesterday to see the disaster. Said she was really scared. (7 years old)

Damn, I glad we were not home!

Hey, fins - what about some eelpout ale for the opening game? ;)

BDB,

Sorry to hear about the home.  Glad that you and family are ok.  I guess we all know why we pay those insurance premiums.  Good luck on the repairs and hope you get a good qualified contractor.

And son of BDB?  He probably said, "Hey, cool!"

Since you're going to have workers around for a while, the kids can set up a pop stand and make a killing!  I mean, there's gotta be a BDB genetic profile at work here, right? ;)

tmert, actually he was bummed that his basketball hoop was wasted.  :o

One good thing though. Son of BDB had pretty well wrecked our garage door via baseballs and hockey pucks.

That was until one of the trees pushed the door in.

BDB,

Sorry to hear about the house. Best of luck with the recovery. I was in one of the areas that was hard hit and had forgotten just how bad those Midwestern storms blow. Pretty incredible stuff. Glad to hear all were safe.

It was good to be back there and fun to drive past the field and see 2-a-days starting at the high schools in that good ol' Minny humidity ...

It looks like Jose Awfulman (Jack Offerman?  I could never decide which derisive nickname I preferred...) made solid contact for the first time in about 8 years:

"...former Red Sox outfielder Carl Everett is one of Offerman's teamates..."

You couldnt make that up.  Once again, life is stranger than fiction.

I've got a few extra Offerman rookie cards from back in the day of living in Boston and collecting baseball cards if anyone wants something to set their Hamms on.

Man BDB, That is a real "Howdy Doo" on your return. I hope things go well on the repairs. I really feel for you when the kids have to go back to school. I can only offer my sympathy and prayers and hope they will some time down the road look at it as an adventure. Kids are resilient that way. You and Mrs BDB, on the other hand, will have more trouble living through it. I'm still in golf season mode - getting slowly into SJU football mode, before sliding into hockey season. Your signature reminded me that Danica is driving for Andretti/Green now. I happen to play regularly with a guy who was in racing (Forsythe Championship Racing in Champ Car - Jerry is his brother) and he brought Kim Green to Geneva National for a round a couple years ago, so I got to play with him.  Again, good luck with the abode resurection.

With all the talk about the local bar and koolaid, I have changed my plans. I will be coming alone by flying in early Saturday morning, getting a rental, and start toward the tailgate party. I will probably stay near the airport and leave Sunday evening. I welcome any suggestions on what to do and where to eat Saturday night and Sunday.

raiderguy: You are right, I was waiting on if Jr. makes the traveling team but there wouldn't be enough time to get good rates and I also started thinking that one, I have faith in him and two, if he doesn't go I still get to go and see what I hope is a great football game in a location I have never been with people that appear to be great fans.

Pat: Thanks so much for the support!

Oh yes and we cannot forget, Lets Goooooooooooo Pioneers!

BDB, sorry to hear about the house! I am glad that everyone is at least physically okay. It is difficult as a child (or an adult for that matter) to see a place that you think of as safe, destroyed. Did your new TV survive?

Unless you want to spend Saturday afternoon after the game driving to Minneapolis so you can spend Sunday at the Mall and/or the water park, I think you'd be better off staying closer to Saint John's.  Anton's in St. Cloud is where a lot of players and families go for dinner after the game - it's got a great sign out front that says "Liquor and Fish"!  There's also the Space Aliens Bar and Grill. ;D  But if your idea is to spend Saturday night and Sunday in Minneapolis, others may have some suggestions.
