I personally wouldn't ever anyone else, especially Bethel to beat SJU even if I had a flesh and blood relative, including my own child, on the team.

First...I only have daughters....

So you're saying this exact scenario--a child of yours playing football for Bethel--is a very real possibility?

Not a chance in Hades!!!

Oh...I get it...my 3 and 7 year old daughters are already good enough to play at Bethel!
Good observation!

BDB - very sorry to hear about your house but glad to hear that no one was home.  I hope your reconstruction project moves along quickly.

Fins - sorry to hear about your KTV but could you please start providing us some hints as to what we can expect to see in the new KTV?  Will there be a brass pole?

Duff - I know what you mean about Fins' koolaid.  I think I may have had too much one Saturday last year when all of a sudden at 8 p.m. that night it dawned on me that I hadn't loaded my grill, table, and chairs from earlier that morning.  I was on the east side of St. Cloud in a thunderstorm heading back to Little Falls but I turned around and started driving out to Collegeville.  I was so pissed at myself for forgetting to load my belongings and I couldn't actually believe it so I pulled over in St. Joe just to check the back of my truck.  Sure enough, everything was loaded, I had just forgotten that I had done so.  Fins had a good laugh after I called to let him know, though, which made it worth it.

Go Johnnies!!!

BDB, this is the perfect time to take the kids camping! When we moved to Minnesota, our house wasn't ready for us so we camped out at Lake Shetek State Park for a month! I was eight and thought it was fantastic. A great adventure. I don't know that my parents would agree though. ;) Spent all day swimming and hiking on the trails. I was too tuckered out to argue (much) with my sister. I had green hair (from the water)the entire time! Ah, the good old days! :D

Ahh, good ol' lake shetek.  went through a few green hair days myself there.
Everyday is payday in paradise.

BDB,

Sorry to hear about your remodeling project at your home. It can be a real pain.
Lucky it wasn't your head one of those trees fell on. Great idea to take a family vacation.

Kcreds,
If you want you could take your rental car to your hotel and I could pick you up and take you to Collegeville. The airport is only 20 minutes from my house and I will be going to the game anyway. Purely up to you but the offer stands. Flying up without the "fam" was a wise decision IMHO. The tailgate is special with food and beverages galore. Stiftingfest burgers cooked and served by Judge Johnnie Red are the highlight of the party and maybe some jello shots. Lots to do and a friendly stop over at "The La Payate" (sp) is a standard after the game.  Great conversation and lots of good company as I have come to know quite a few of the Johnnie faithful over the past 5 years. You can't do much better for great fans.

I was wondering, how is the team traveling? Are they flying? Where will they be staying when they hit MN? Also is the ex-RB from MUC still coaching at Marietta?
Looking forward to your visit and some good old banter about D3, OAC vs MIAC, the Pios, Johnnies and once in awhile I manage to sneak in a comment or two about the Raiders.
See you in September.

Duff,
What happened to the 50 yd line ceremony at halftime and Old Johnnie Ale for everyone? At least if you are going to ditch on us you could still supply the "Ale" It might ease the pain of your absence for the rest of us. I will have to cut my jello receipe in half now. ;D
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

RG,

This is not my wedding that is interfering with the Marietta game, but a friend's.  Poor timing, indeed!  My nuptials have been set for May of 2008.

BDB

Well, they've got the carpet ripped up and major equipment drying the house. These machines have hoses hooked to them running right into my sinks making these sucking sounds constantly. Crazy.

Worked like a dog yesterday moving contents of the house into my garage so they could begin the drying process.

Only reason the job got done was help from 6 Blue Devil linebackers and a coach taking time to help me in between 2 a days. Great guys who were happy to help someone that needed it.

I think I have a major coup developing. Right next to my wrecked place is a seasonal cabin owned by a professional from the Cities. He hardly ever uses it.

I talked to him yesterday and he is open to renting it to me on a weekly basis. Now the insurance company has to agree which I think they will.

At least then we could be next door and the kids could have some level of normalcy to their lives, not to mention Mrs. BDB and myself.

PS: The brand new plasma TV came through unharmed!  ;D

Sports event for this weekend: Chaska plays Cold Spring tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Norwood at the state amateur "town team" baseball tournament.

Next weekend is the Stiftungsfest in Young America. All the burgers you could ever want along with an appearance by Hairball. Be there or be square. ;)

BDB, glad to hear things are going alright for you and the house.

DuffMan

BDB, I hope that works out for you and the family, and I am glad your plasma TV is doing fine.  I could store it at my house for you for a while, if need be ;)

Nice try Duff.  :D

I suppose I'll haul it over to the cabin, however it will be major overkill having a TV like that running on rabbit ears.

Now that I think of it, maybe it's not even set up for that!  ???

That sucking sound is the money being vacuumed out of your wallet. :-X

And you got linebackers to do some work? :o

A man and his wife were celebrating 50 years together. Their three
kids, all very successful, agreed to a Sunday dinner in their honor.

"Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad," gushed son number one ...
"Sorry I'm running late. I had an emergency at the hospital with
a patient, you know how it is, and didn't have time to get you a
gift." "Not to worry," said the father. "The important thing is
that we're all together today."

Son number two arrived and announced, "You and Mom look great, Dad.
I just flew in from Los Angeles between depositions and didn't have
time to shop for you." "It's nothing," said the father, " We're glad
you were able to come."

Just then the daughter arrived, "Hello and happy anniversary! I'm
sorry, but my boss is sending me out of town and I was really busy
packing so I didn't have time to get you anything." Again the
father said, "I really don't care, at least the five of us are together
today."

After they had finished dessert, the father said, "There's something
your mother and I have wanted to tell you for a long time.  You see,
we were very poor. Despite this, we were able to  send each
of you to college.  Throughout the years your mother and I knew that
we loved each other very much, but we just never found the time to
get married."

The three children gasped and said, "You mean we're bastards?"

"Yes," said the father. "And cheap ones too."

bennie

And speaking of cheap...or in this case NOT!! I just got an e-mail at work offering me "Special Football Tickets" for faculty and staff. Only $25 per ticket with the attached $10 off coupon ($35 regular price). And this is for a pre-season game agains the Houston Cougars. I think I will stick with D3 football with the $10 or less tickets, free parking and friendly down home atmosphere. ;D
